Heath Ledger-Directed Music Videos Releasing This Year
We’ve all celebrated the late Heath Ledger‘s Academy Award win for Best Supporting Actor this year, but what many fans may be surprised to accept with open arms are two music videos directed by the thespian.
The first, a video for a bonus track from Modest Mouse‘s 2007 album We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank, “King Rat” is an animated clip that came out of a mutual idea between Ledger and fellow aussie Isaac Brock:
“Heath and I have a mutual friend and when we were in Australia, my fiancé and some of us in the band went out on a boat with him and his family and friends and talked about the idea,” Brock told VH1 in 2007 interview. “The idea sort of dropped, but then he just sent me an email saying that he wanted to do it.”
The second, that of singer Grace Woodroofe and her cover of David Bowie‘s “Quicksand”, will also be released officially in 2009.
Ledger’s life, as we all know, was cut short in 2008 – the result of a lethal (and probably accidental) combination of prescription medication.
