I’m Nick Wolfwood, and I’m counting down all this summer’s movie releases, big and small, weekend by weekend from May 1st – August 28th. 

Lets jump right in with May 1st, 2009.

Battle for Terra 

Starring: Brian Cox, Luke Wilson, David Cross, Justin Long, Amanda Peet, Dennis Quaid

What it’s about: BATTLE for TERRA is a fantastic journey to worlds we have only dreamed of. It is a story of friendship, family, sacrifice and most importantly, the realization that all of our survival relies on our earth’s precious natural resources.

Rating: PG

Thoughts: This really doesn’t look like a winner to me, the animation looks dated.

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past 

Starring: Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Garner, Lacey Chabert, Emma Stone, Christina Milian

What it’s about: A bachelor is haunted by the ghosts of his past girlfriends at his younger brother’s wedding.

Rating: PG-13

Thoughts: This is really the type of stuff that I avoid at all costs, this is McConaughey doing his usual.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Starring: Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, Liev Schreiber, Dominic Monaghan

What it’s about: Wolverine lives a mutant life, seeks revenge against Victor Creed (who will later become Sabertooth) for the death of his girlfriend, and ultimately ends up going through the mutant Weapon X program.

Rating: PG-13

Thoughts: This is the big summer movie season kick off. This movie is sure to make a ton of money, I just hope it’s good.

The Skeptic

Starring: Tim Daly, Tom Arnold, Zoe Saldana, Andrea Roth, Edward Herrmann

What it’s about: After the mysterious death of his Aunt, a confirmed skeptic lawyer, Bryan Becket, dismisses reports that her house is haunted and moves in. Immediately occurrences begin he cannot explain. And beyond the occurrences there is something about the house which gnaws at Becket – some strange connection he senses he has with the house’s past.

Rating: TBA

Thoughts: It really doesn’t sound like a big departure from movies in the past, but I like to see a good thriller. Time will tell if this one has the quality.

The judges have always said that a male would win this season of American Idol, but now they are getting much more specific. While appearing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson forecasted the winner

The two Idol judges singled out current Top 11 finalists Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert as their favorites to win Idol’s eighth season during a Tuesday night appearance. “It’s going to be a guy this year.  Danny, Adam…” said Cowell during the appearance.. “It’s going to be a guy for sure,” added Jackson.  “Danny, Adam…”

Cowell and Jackson also said they feel current Lil Rounds will end up being the last female finalist in Idol’s eighth season during their The Tonight Show appearance.

Ok, I agree it will be Danny and Adam as final two, but Allison Ireheta is much better than Lil Rounds. And I think Matt Giraud deserves to be up there in the order, also.

Tonight, I predict Scott, Michael and Megan as bottom three. What do you think?

Cheryl Burke always gets the hot European, little-known actors as partners on Dancing with the Stars. First, Cristian de la Fuenta, and now Gilles Marini. Though she has vowed to get Marini naked if we keep voting for him, Gilles really doesn’t try to be sexy. Riiiiight.

Gilles Marini says that Cheryl is “very tough and driven” but she’s being smart about not over training, considering all the injuries that have taken place already this season.  Cheryl has often joked about Gilles taking more and more clothes off as the season goes on to keep fans voting.  When asked if it was difficult to throw the sexiness out for the quickstep, Gilles replied, “Being sexy is not something I ever try to be. It’s not like, ‘Oh, I’m sexy, let me look at the camera now.’  I’m not trying to be sexy. Throwing the sexiness away was just looking rigid and more sophisticated.”

Whether he tries or not, the dude is HOT. Keep the hot, European flavor coming!!

Robert O’Ryan was arrested and served a restraining order after trying to break onto the set of Dancing with the Stars to meet Shawn Johnson.

According to court documents that accompanied the restraining order application, Robert O’Ryan was stopped by security at CBS Studios, the lot where Dancing With The Stars  is produced, after he jumped on a fence on Monday afternoon. When the police searched his car they found a loaded shotgun and handgun, as well as duct tape and love letters.

Robert O’Ryan, is being held on $35,000 bail on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm in public.

The records state that he told security guards and police that he packed up all his belongings and traveled to California from Florida in the hopes of being with Shawn Johnson. He believes that Shawn Johnson speaks to him personally through the television set and through ESP and that they will have a child together, he stated he would be with her no matter what.

Shawn Johnson is “in fear of her life,” her parents’ attorney wrote in a restraining order application. The restraining order which was issued on Wednesday had sought protection for Shawn Johnson, her mother, her father and her Dancing With The Stars  pro partner Mark Ballas. A hearing on whether to grant a lengthy restraining order will be held April 14, 2009.

Wow, what a nutjob! Poor pint-sized Shawn is probably scared to death! Thank goodness it was nipped in the bud pretty quickly.

Check out all these new posters for the upcoming film, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

This movie was originally supposed to be out in November, since then the amount of additional promotional material that has been released is bordering on overkill.

I knew that Blender magazine was too good to be true. Just as soon as I subscribe to the magazine and get my first issue, this Kelly Clarkson one, they go under. They are closing their doors and laying off 30 people. The staff was told this morning. Alpha Media Group still has one magazine left under their name, Maxim. That’s where the people left from Blender will go. The last issue of Blender will be the current issue, April 2009.

CEO Stephen Duggan commented, “Since 2001, Blender has provided unmatched music coverage and entertainment news in its unique voice to a profoundly dedicated audience of music enthusiasts. We are particularly grateful to the sales team and to the tremendously talented editorial staff for their hard work and commitment to Blender.”

That really is too bad. I was enjoying the thought of catching up on my music gossip since I am loving the headline they have on the cover about Lady Gaga, “I have unprotected sex with my songs.” Who can make that stuff up? I’ll miss you Blender.

It looks like the lovebirds, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy, are back from their vacation to Cabos San Lucas. They arrived at LAX on Wednesday night looking tired and not wanting to see the paparazzi.

Jennifer was not impressed at all and tried to cover her face with her purse. (I always wondered what big purses could be used for.) And it’s not like we wouldn’t know who was standing next to Jamie since he didn’t try to hide himself at all.

These two look very happy together. It’s about time. They deserve it.

If you watch The Colbert Report, then you probably know that Stephen was trying to gets votes for the space stations new names.  He wants HIS name up there.  It looks like a LOT of us were listening!

When Stephen Colbert discovered that NASA was using an online poll to allow people to vote for names of rooms in the International Space Station, he ordered his Colbert Nation followers to go out and vote for him.

When the voting was completed last week the room still known as Node 3, was voted to be named Colbert, which beat out the number 2 name of Serenity by more than 40,000 votes. Colbert got a total of 230,539 votes.

NASA hasn’t given Node 3 the new name yet, since they have reserved the right to give the room a name they believe is fitting.

I think it’s messed up if they don’t give it to him!  America voted and they want Colbert’s name up in space.  So I say, listen to ‘em!!  LOL.  What do you think?

Hayden Panettiere, who plays Claire in Heroes, was spotted running errands yesterday in Hollywood. She seems to look alot happier now since her supposed split from co-star, Milo Ventimiglia. She is hardly seen now too. Maybe we just all enjoyed seeing the pictures of Milo out and about since he’s such a private person.
