M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Airbender’ Gets a Cast

avatarposter

M. Night Shyamalan‘s next film is a live action movie of Nickelodeon animated TV series The Last Airbender. The film is moving forward and has a growing cast.

Aasif Mandvi (TV’s “The Daily Show”), Shaun Toub (“Iron Man,” “Kite Runner”) and Cliff Curtis (“Live Free or Die Hard,” “Virus”) have joined the cast of M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Last Airbender” for Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies.

Based on the hugely successful Nickelodeon animated TV series, the live-action feature follows four nations (Air, Water, Earth, Fire) tied by destiny when the Fire Nation launches a brutal war against the others. A century has passed with no hope in sight to change the path of this destruction.

Honestly, I don’t know why they even let M. Night Shyamalan make movies anymore. But this seems more his speed.

Heroes’ Hayden Panettiere Sets It Straight

Hayden Panettiere 2

Hayden Panettiere, our favorite cheerleader from the struggling show Heroes had a major break up with Milo Ventimiglia and then a bunch of harsh media rumors, set the record straight with Ok!

“Milo and I are very close,” the 19-year-old beauty explains to OK!. “We have enjoyed and continue to enjoy working together.”

OK! also heard from Heroes honcho Tim Kring, who said that his stars’ relationship status has nothing to do with how he and his staff plot the NBC hit. “The final decision about which characters live and die on Heroes rests with me,” he tells OK!. “I’ve made no announcement yet as to who will return and who won’t.”

Her response to the media rumors:

“I have tremendous respect for the media and reporters – particularly the press who treat the people they are interviewing with dignity,” she says. “I am appreciative that the press has supported me, my career, and especially the causes I feel passionately about. While in Hawaii, one reporter grabbed me suddenly from behind and frightened me. It happens. Typically, the press has treated me with great respect.”

I am sure she is telling the truth too.  You know reporters will do just about anything to get the attention of a celebrity.  So, I am sure she had every right to snap on them.  I would have done the same thing.

‘Journey 3D’ Getting a Sequel

affiche

The film Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D starring Brendan Fraser is getting a sequel.

New Line is mounting a second 3-D “Journey to the Center of the Earth.”

The first movie, made for about $60 million, was one of the first wide 3-D releases and grossed $240 million worldwide last year. Despite that, the studio waited to see the DVD numbers, which turned out to be robust, before committing to the sequel.

How you make a sequel to a story like this is beyond me, but this movie will be made simply to make money. Don’t expect high quality or artistic expression here.

Freida Pinto to Join Daniel Craig in the Next Bond Film?

freida-pinto-1daniel-craig-picture

Looks like Freida Pinto may become the next Bond girl.

A source close to the set says, “Freida came to the attention of the Bond team when they were casting Quantum of Solace. She was too young at the time to have a part as a love interest for a secret agent.”

“But she has blossomed into an incredibly stunning young woman and would look perfect on Daniel Craig’s arm. “Danny Boyle is the favorite to take the helm of the next movie, which would increase Freida’s chances of a starring role.”

She’d be great as a Bond girl, great actress.

Nick & Joe Jonas Get ‘Greasy’

Nick and Joe Jonas w/ Mc D's

Nick and Joe Jonas were out and about looking like they were in a bit of a rush. But, they made sure to make time for some greasy McDonald’s. Maybe they plan to burn it off while they continue walking…that way they can still fit in their skinny jeans.

Maybe they are like chicks and need to eat crappy when stressed and depressed, seeing as how their super hyped movie was a total bomb.

Steven King’s ‘It’ Being Remade

37151410

Another remake is coming, this one will be of Steven King‘s It

They’ve (Warner Brothers) hired Dave Kajganich to pen the screenplay adaptation. I’m not sure that the property could be cut down to fit into the standard 90 or 100 minute movie. The paperback is 1,104 pages, and the miniseries clocked in at 192 minutes (over 3 hours). And if the idea of a 100 minute movie doesn’t worry you, hw about the fact that Kajganich’s biggest credit was the disaster that was the 2007 Invasion of the Bodysnatchers remake — The Invasion. I haven’t seen It in years, and I’m sure its one of those films that doesn’t live up to my childhood memories. Could It bennifit from a redo? Probably. But as a 100-minute feature film?

I always liked the original miniseries, i don’t think this one needs a remake.

‘Eclipse’ Director Still not Chosen

eclipse1

Despite Paul Weitz and Juan Antonio Bayona both being reported as the new director of the Twilight Sequel Eclipse, but no-one has been chosen.

I had lunch today with Erik Feig, who’s president of production at Summit and the man most involved with managing the hit series of films. (“New Moon,” the second film in the series, begins production later this month with Chris Weitz at the helm.)

Feig was shocked to see the media reports saying Summit had hired Bayona, since — ahem — they’re not true. “The ‘Eclipse’ directing job hasn’t been offered to Juan Antonio or anyone else,” he told me. “We’ve met with three or four talented filmmakers and we’ll be meeting with three or four more other candidates before we make any decision. No one has been offered the job.”

I don’t know about you, but I feel lied to.

Nick Lachey Dishes on His Career, Gives Advice on the Industry

Nick Lachey

Unfortunately for him, Nick Lachey is probably best known for his role in Newlyweds and his marriage to Jessica Simpson. But now with a new album coming out and a role as executive producer for the new MTV show Taking the Stage, Nick is growing up and really progressing in his career. He sat down with Life & Style Magazine, and here are some highlights:

“I don’t think you can expect to make money anymore in the music industry. You do it because you love to do it. I love to sing; I have no expectations on a business level. You put your best foot forward and be proud. The record business has been on a downward spiral for a long time.”

“I tell people all of the time, the biggest thing is don’t take no for answer. In 98 Degrees we were trying to get a record deal or just an answer or response with our first album. If we took no for answer, we would have packed it in immediately. But we didn’t. You can’t let it discourage you. It’s a demoralizing industry to your psyche, but you have to believe in your training.”

And now, enjoy some pics of the hunk and his hottie, Vanessa Minnillo!

Howard K. Stern Charged with Providing Drugs to Anna Nicole Smith

stern arrest

Anna Nicole Smith‘s former boyfriend/lover/attorney Howard K. Stern has been charged-along with doctors Khristine Eroshevich and Sandeep Kapoor- of providing her with the highly addictive drugs that ended up taking her life in February 2007.

California Attorney General Jerry Brown issued a statement saying Eroshevich, Kapoor and Stern are charged with “repeatedly and excessively” furnishing drugs — “often for no legitimate medical purpose” — to Smith, an actress and model best known as a Playboy Playmate.

“There is ample evidence that Dr. Eroshevich and Dr. Kapoor violated their ethical obligations as physicians, while Mr. Stern funneled highly addictive drugs to Ms. Smith,” Brown said.

The statement said the suspects “furnished thousands of prescription pills to Ms. Smith, including opiates, benzodiazepines, and other controlled and non-controlled substances,” the Times reported.

Eroshevich and Kapoor are accused of falsifying prescriptions while Stern is accused of “obtaining, delivering and administering these prescription drugs.”

This is so sad- these people took such advantage of her when she was going through a devastating time in the loss of her son and best friend, Daniel. Yes, Anna Nicole was an adult and she chose to take those pills, but she trusted Howard K. Stern and he just kept her drugged up. Lord knows she wasn’t the most stable person around… Thank goodness Larry Birkhead has their daughter now and not this psycho!!

Todd Herzog’s Boyfriend, Spencer Duhm, Voted Off ‘Survivor:Tocantins’

SURVIVOR: TOCANTINs, spencer

Before Spencer Duhm ever even got to tell his tribe that he was gay, he was kicked off Survivor due to lack of effort and/or athletic ability in the immunity challenge. Here’s what Spence had to say after the vote:

“Well I just got voted out, I lasted 15 days but I definitely could’ve lasted a lot longer… I definitely made some friends while I was out there, and I hope they feel the same way. It just is frustrating that they felt I wasn’t useful enough in the challenge. It was just a really bad challenge for me today.”

Early in the episode Spencer revealed to the viewers that is gay, but wouldn’t be telling his tribemates for fear of rejection and judgment. Turns out that gay or straight, they just didn’t think he was pulling his weight and ousted him anyway.
