poster_afterlife

This is the poster for the new film It’s a Wonderful Afterlife

A mother’s obsession to marry off her daughter takes a macabre turn.

This is from the director of Bend it Like Beckham so I get the feeling it’s going to be good.

‘Land That Time Forgot’ Gets a Remake

landthattimeforgot

It seems to be the trend that doesn’t end, yet another movie remake is in the works. Here comes The Land That Time Forgot

Yup, there’s a remake coming, featuring another band of shipwreck survivors who find themselves on an island inhabited by dinosaurs and Neanderthals.Moviehole has the exclusive details on the bizarre-sounding project, which will be directed by 80s actor icon C. Thomas Howell and will feature him, Christopher Showerman and Timothy Bottoms in the cast. Even stranger, they’re planning to have themovie out later this year.

My guess is that they will change the title at least a little, that’s a mouthful.

Chuckles, not laughter. I hope the rest of the movie is at least a little funnier than this.

Paramount is Keeping ‘Star Trek’s J.J. Abrams Until 2013

sgg-063111paramount

Apparently Paramount Pictures loves J.J. Abrams, director of the new film Star Trek. They are keeping him and his production company under contract until 2013.

Paramount Pictures, a unit of Viacom Inc, today announced an extension of its agreement with J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions to run through 2013. This continues the first-look relationship originally started with Abrams and long-time colleague, producer Bryan Burk, in July 2006.

Star Trek will probably be Paramount‘s most successful film of this year, so this move to keep him makes a lot of sense. I wonder what the next project will be?

Vatican Wants ‘Angels & Demons’ Boycott

angelsanddemonsfirstlook

The Vatican seems to be up in arms about the new film starring Tom Hanks Angels & Demons.

The film, based on the novel by Dan Brown is set to open in theaters worldwide on May 15th. And the official Vatican newspaper Avvenire says in its latest edition that the church “cannot apprive” of the film.

In addition, Italian newspaper La Stampa reports that the Vatican will soon be calling on all Catholics to boycott the movie. That’s a large order! But in the same article, Archbishop Velasio De Paolis says he worries that calling for a boycott will draw more attention to the film.

When will people learn that boycotting a movie is entirely counter-productive, it’s just free publicity.

Teaser Poster for Scorsese’s Next Film ‘Shutter Island’

shutterislandposter

Here’s the new early teaser poster for Martin Scorsese‘s newest film Shutter Island.

Laeta Kalogridis’ adaptation of Dennis Lehane’s 2004 novel, in which Ruffalo will play U.S. Marshal Chuck Aule, who travels with his new partner (DiCaprio) to the eponymous Massachusetts island in 1954. As they investigate the disappearance of a patient from a hospital for the criminally insane, they encounter a web of lies, a hurricane and a deadly inmate riot that leaves them trapped on the island.

Anything Scorsese makes is something I’m interested in seeing, he’s one of the few directors alive that I can say that about. He just knows how to create engaging drama.

Here’s the trailer for the upcoming period romance Cheri starring Michelle Pheiffer.

This movie looks like most period romances, not exactly aimed at the 18-30 male demographic.

Tony Scott to Direct ‘Unstoppable’

032

Tony Scott is replacing Martin Campbell as the director of the upcoming film Unstoppable.

Tony Scott will next direct the 20th Century Fox thriller Unstoppable. Scott is working with screenwriter Mark Bomback to get the picture in shape to be shot later this year.

Martin Campbell was previously on board to direct.

The drama involves an unmanned runaway train that is carrying a cargo of toxic chemicals. An engineer and his conductor find themselves in a race against time.

Tony Scott and his brother Ridley Scott are both great directors in their own way, but I’m more of a Ridley fan.

Thomas Gibson Pulls A Christian Bale

Thomas Gibson

Thomas Gibson has seemed to pick up cues from Christian Bale by pulling  a fit on the set of his show, Criminal Minds.

“Thomas was doing a scene with Matthew Gubler when he shut down the set,” an insider [says]. “He kept hearing a noise that ruined his concentration.”

And instead of going back to his trailer to calm down he flipped out right on the set. He started screaming at the cast and crew. A couple of minutes later when the noise stopped it was revealed that the noise was just water dripping onto the roof.

I wondered how long it would take for stories like this to come out. Of course, we all know someone would be accused of it. I’m sure before the rant of Christian Bale’s was publicized it probably happened more than we realized. But now that Christian is so popular that now everyone notices it.
