David Alan Grier Dishes on his ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Experience

David Alan Grier was sent packing on Tuesday’s Dancing with the Stars results show, but he had a pretty good run. Being the outspoken guy that he is, he had plenty to say about his departure.
“[I'm] kind of disappointed. I really felt like we had more to give — but it’s a dance show,” Grier told OK! Weekly after Tuesday night’s live results show broadcast on ABC. “We’re not going to cure cancer and I don’t think we’ll heal any babies with this show. It is what it is but you put a lot into it.”
In addition to enjoying his time on the show, it presented Grier with an opportunity to reconnect with an old friend — Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba, who had previously worked as a Fly Girl with the comedian in the early 1990s on In Living Color. “She better not come within 10 feet of me because she’s getting a foot in her ass,” Grier joked to OK!. “I feel like we never got the respect of the judges. Never!”
But what’s his biggest regret about leaving the show? “My biggest disappointment is I did not lose 30,” Grier, who lost 28 pounds, told OK!. “I was going to power through and chew some gum and smoke some cigarettes to get those pounds down.”
Grier has plenty to do now that the show is over: he’s working on a movie that will spoof Step It Up called Dance Flick. He also said he’s writing a book about his life titled “Barack like Me” that is currently slated to be published this fall.
