The CBS Evening News just got a little more scary.  Katie Couric just had her hair butchered and her critics are being well, critical.  (Me included!)

“I actually much prefer the old hair style,” says Watters. “The new boy cut has aged her. While she may have been searching for a change, she went way too short.”

Maybe she was trying to copy cat the young, hot Hollywood types?

“All of the girls who cut bobs a couple of years ago — Katie Holmes, Victoria Beckham, Kate Walsh — grew them out slightly, and are wearing more curls than straight styles,” said Watters. “This would have suited Katie Couric, softened her up a bit, and made her look younger.”

“If she’s trying to be taken more seriously with a ‘severe’ cut, she may have accomplished what she wanted” Watters says. “But it’s not flattering.”

Ouch!  But, I have to agree.  This new look isn’t a good thing.  This short, sharp cut makes Katie look rather ‘witchy’.

Were you ever a fan of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?  I definitely was, when Regis was the host.  Once he bowed out, I lost interest.  But, guess what?!  Regis is coming back for more Millionaire this summer!  Yay!  So, I will be setting my DVR once again and will be working my brain to beat out the contestants.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire will be back to prime time August 9th on ABC.  The bad news is that it’s only going to last for two weeks.    What’s up with that?  It’s merely a 2 week celebration of the 10 year anniversary.  Oh well, we’ll have to enjoy it while we can.  Maybe we will be done with it by then too.

Will you be wattching?  Or could you care less?  Did you like Meredith better?

Paris Hilton stars in a new series of ads for Guess Spring/Summer 2009 collection.   She looks as generically slutty as ever.  I’m just wondering why they had to drag one of her pets into it.  And further, why they felt it was important to put this poor chihuahua between Paris’ legs.  I mean, I’d be afraid to get anywhere near that part of Paris.  Is this animal abuse?

Johnny Depp‘s unruly (and franky, sexy) hair caused some stress for the stylist on the set of his upcoming movie, The Rum Diary.

It was evidently a challenge to get Johnny’s hair to stay in a 1950s appropriate style, so he shared his styling secrets from a previous 1950s-era role – Wade Walker in Cry Baby.

The magic formula?

“Dep gel…with a coating of Aqua Net hairspray!”

So I’m going to try to ignore the obvious Depp/Dep pun… and focus instead on the fact that this is the exact same combination of styling products I used to use back in high school!   I hope they kept him far away from anything flame producing, because that is a seriously flammable hair care cocktail!

I kind of love that Whoopi Goldberg shows up at a fancy-pants fundraiser dressed like this.   She just doesn’t care, which is refreshing in a celebrity.

Here she is on the red carpet for the Blossom Ball at the Prince George Ballroom in Manhattan.  The event was a benefit for the Endometriosis Foundation of America.  Top Chef hottie Padma Lakshmi (looking much more glamorous) was one of the evening’s hosts.

Other celebs in attendance included Helena Christensen, Tina Brown, Alexandra Tomlinson and Nicole Trufino.

Lady Gaga and Interscope have named “Love Game” their next official single release from The Fame (instead of the previously announced “Paparazzi”).  I love this track.  It’s definitely a safe maneuver for Gaga’s people, as it’s also the 3rd consecutive RedOne-produced single (with its synth-heavy riffs much like “Just Dance” and “Poker Face”).

The beauty of Gaga being such an international phenomenon though, is that she essentially has two entirely different sets of singles released overseas than are released domestically – see videos for “Beautiful Dirty Rich”, “Nothing Else I Can Say”, and the soon-to-be-released “Paparazzi” (“Love Game” also has a video already finished and circulating the nets).

When’s the last time we’ve really seen an artist put in so much work??

In 1995, the music industry learned of a romance between one Marilyn (a male gender-bending Euro-rocker) and one Gavin Rossdale via one Boy George‘s tell-all Take It Like a Man.  The reason most of it was swept under the rug?  Two things: Both parties denied the romance ever existed, and Rossdale was just breaking into mainstream with his group Bush.

However, Marilyn is now recanting his denial, calling Rossdale the “Love of my life”.  In an exclusive interview with InTouch, he claims that

“He was just becoming successful in America,” Marilyn explains. “I agreed to lie against every grain of my being.” Now, Marilyn wants to set the record straight. In an exclusive interview with In Touch, the British pop icon details the love affair that spanned the early ’80s. “We were together five years,” Marilyn says. “But it felt like 40.”

Gavin’s people deny the reports.  Rossdale is obviously 1/2 of one of Rock’s most successful marriages – that to No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani (the couple has been together for 13 years, and have two children)

Faith Hill decided to take on a different look for the May 2009 issue of Redbook. She dresses as former supermodel Twiggy, ’60s sex symbol Brigitte Bardot, and screen legend Grace Kelly. The three blondes that she poses as embrace the history of females in general, they changed the way we think of women. And I thank them. Here is the highlights from the interview on where Faith talks about what it’s like to be posing as these three strong women.

Faith on Grace Kelly: “My mother-in-law has always told me that I remind her of Grace Kelly. I think it’s about how I carry myself, how I look in photographs, that sort of thing….I think, too, it’s probably that I have this seemingly high-profile life, like Grace did, and that we were both the mother of three children.”

Faith on Being Brigitte Bardot: “I felt least like Brigitte of all three women we did. Brigitte possesses this sensual essence that is so powerful . . . if I could possess that sensuality, I would want to possess it like she does.”

Faith as Twiggy: “It was hard for me to look at myself as Twiggy….I felt she had such an innocence . . . Her version was beautiful and flawless, but for me, as a woman who’s come into her own a little more comfortably, it’s just a different kind of beauty.”

I love all the pictures. They did a great job with this.

We didn’t have to wait long to find out the first contestant to go home in tonight’s double elimination on American Idol. After a ridiculously cheesy disco dance number choreographed by Paula Abdul, Lil Rounds was sent packing. Total shocker!

After a terrible montage of disco singers, Anoop Desai and Allison Ireheta were revealed to be in the bottom 3 (along with Lil). David Archuletta came back and reminded us all why David Cook won last season.

Then, Anoop Desai was eliminated. Just like I called it. Now we have a killer top 5. SO glad the judges’ save was used last week so we could get rid of these two and keep mega-talented Matt Giraud. Go America!

Jennifer Lopez has been seen all over New York in the last couple of days going to Good Morning America and Regis and Kelly. It seems like she has lost all the baby weight and is looking sparkling with the long hair. There is something different about her but I can’t figure it out. It must be the bangs.

Cheryl Cole from the group Girls Aloud said that she would love to trade her big boobs for Jennifer’s booty.

“I hate looking thin. I don’t want to be up and down like a lollipop lady. It’s not a good look. I’d love to have more junk in my trunk. Ideally a body like Jennifer Lopez but I would dress differently to her.”

I’m sure that is a compliment and an insult wrapped in one. She likes her booty but doesn’t like how she dresses with that junk in the trunk.  I kinda like the junk in the trunk look myself.
