Hannah Montana The Movie blasted into first place over the Easter weekend (Apr 10 – 12) making it the second biggest Easter weekend opening ever after Scary Movie 4. The new comedy Observe and Report landed at #4. Fast & Furious held strong at #2 with Monsters vs. Aliens dropping to #3. And finally, Dragonball Evolution edged onto the top ten at #8.

Terminator Salvation will not have the R rating that the director McG said it would, instead it’s only PG-13. 

Fox will be airing an “extended look” at Terminator Salvation on Wednesday during Bones. /Film reader Samir J points out that the promo that aired during 24 advertising the extended preview also features the PG-13 MPAA logo.

Ok so I was looking forward to this movie more since the most recent trailers. Now that it’s been cut up into a PG-13 money machine, my hope is dwindling. I’ll still see it, but now we know it’s just not going to be as good as the other films.

Phil Spector the major record producer was convicted Monday of second-degree murder. 

A Los Angeles jury convicted Phil Spector of second-degree murder Monday, making the legendary record producer who worked with the Beatles and a host of other pop stars the first celebrity found guilty of murder on Hollywood’s home turf in at least 40 years.

The verdict read in a tense, standing-room-only courtroom came six years and two trials after police found Lana Clarkson, a statuesque blond actress, shot to death in a chair in Spector’s 30-room Alhambra mansion. 

As a Superior Court clerk pronounced the word “guilty,” Spector’s mouth gaped slightly, but he quickly returned to the stoic expression he has worn throughout his legal proceedings. His wife, Rachelle, who is 41 years his junior, began weeping in the front row of the spectators’ gallery.

The verdict of second-degree murder — the most severe option offered to jurors — with the use of a firearm means the 69-year-old Spector faces a mandatory life prison term when he is sentenced May 29. He must serve at least 18 years before being eligible for parole.

This case has been going on forever, nice to finally see a verdict. Is it just me, or does he look like a murderer?

Franco and Wahlberg have signed on for the new comedy Date Night with Steve Carrell and Tina Fey.

Wahlberg plays a successful and crazily buff securities expert who flirts with Fey’s character. Franco portrays a not-too-bright conman and petty criminal. Meester is onboard as the couple’s babysitter. Henson plays the one good cop who believes the couple is in danger, and Common portrays a villain. Wiig, who worked with Fey on “Saturday Night Live,” rounds out the cast as the actress’ best friend.

Sounds like a lot of fun, this is a great cast. It’s really not surprising that big stars are signing on for smaller roles when Carrell and Fey are the main characters, who wouldn’t want to work with them?

Now that Lindsay Lohan is free of her girlfriend, Samantha Ronson, she is out to prove that she’s not such a bad person after all. I know that I have so much more respect for Lindsay seeing her make fun of herself. And the way she knows that everyone talks about her in the gossip blogs.

I have single-handedly kept 90% of all gossip websites in business.

I also love the end where she admits that she is on the cover of US Weekly with the caption, “I’m so alone.” Maybe she doesn’t mind that we all gossip about her? She is telling the truth that she probably kept everyone in business with all her exploits.

So who will be calling eHarmony and requesting her profile?

By now we all know that this fifth season of The Hills will be the last for Lauren Conrad. And despite her fashion clothing line being put on hold, her career is still in overdrive. On the episode of Family Guy airing May 3rd, Lauren is caught up in a love traingle with Brian. Lovely! I wonder if this will be anything like Audrina Patridge‘s soon-to-air fling with LC ex Brody Jenner. Hmmm…

So, what is Conrad’s role on the cartoon sitcom? “She dates Brian for an episode,” said series creator Seth MacFarlane, adding that Brian dates the beauty to disguise his true feelings for another woman.

Much like The Hills, Family Guy is a well-scripted, funny show. Should be an easy transition!

The attention-starved duo have been hanging out with each others’ parents, vacationing together, and talking about how they want to get married. Despite butting heads from time to time in rehearsals for Dancing with the Stars, country music artist Chuck Wicks says he and his dancing girlfriend partner Julianne Hough will be engaged soon!

“We definitely talk about it. It’s definitely in the future,” Wicks told tvguide.com in a recent interview. “It’s one of those things where it’s supposed to be a surprise! I’ll tell you this — I’m not going to do it on the show, but it’s not like we don’t talk about it or think about it or we don’t know that that’s the next step. All in due time.”

Despite being only 18 years old at the time of her Dancing debut, Hough was already engaged to Zach Wilson, whom she had been dating for a year and had met in Salt Lake City when she was only 9 years old and he was 14 years old. However their relationship failed to survive Hough’s newfound fame.  After calling off her August 2007 wedding to Wilson off three months before it was set to occur but insisting they were still together, the couple later split for good.

Maybe Chuck and Julianne will be the next Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, or Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood…. Well, probably not, but they sure are cute!

Oh Simon, say it ain’t so!! Will the most legit judge on American Idol soon be leaving the show? The Brit spends half of his life on transcontinental flights from America to England where he films Britain’s Got Talent and The X-Factor. After years of living without a social life, Simon Cowell might be ready to give something up, and it looks like we will be on the losing end.

“Most people do one show a year and I do three. It just so happens that one is in America and two are in England and they do involve a lot of traveling.  One may have to go. I don’t know how to decide which one. That is the problem, I like all of them,” Cowell told the U.K.’s The Mirror newspaper in a Saturday report.

“I can’t imagine not doing Britain’s Got Talent and I can’t imagine not doing X Factor. But I guess America is more likely to go because I have got one year under contract. Maybe that will be the end.”

What would American Idol be without Simon Cowell? Last December he said it’ll be just fine.

“It could still continue without me.  I’ve always believed that,” he told reporters…  “This show is successful all over the world and I’m only on American Idol.  I’ll make a decision next year as to what I do as an on-screen judge because there is a big, big schedule now and I do two other shows, so it’s been hard.  I think that this show could continue for another 10, 20 years, to be honest with you.”

Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jackson are legit… So maybe Simon and Paula Abdul will both go and we can trade them for one more really good judge. What do you think? Can American Idol make it without Simon?

She wore a white, layered frilly sleeveless dress that was neither super-short or low cut. She paired her demure dress with cute peep-toe heels… I guess she was trying to get into the spirit of mommy-ness with her grown-up look.
