Pop/punk fans have smartened up since the debut of Avril Lavigne, and even though she’s maintained somewhat of a fan base, it’s safe to say she’s nowhere near being as successful as she once was.  Well, according to the somewhat newlwed’s Myspace blog, she’s snagged a gig as the Canadian Ambassador for the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, China.

On Friday, I was in Vancouver and honored as the Canadian Ambassador for 2010 World Expo, Shanghai, China. It’s really exciting as it’s the first time China has ever hosted World Expo and the theme is “Better City, Better Life”. It’s really cool that over 200 countries and international organizations are coming together at World Expo, Shanghai to create a better future for the world. I’ve played 2 shows in Shanghai. It’s a great city and i look forward to visiting again next year. Avril.

Now the real question: can homegirl stop dressing like it’s two thousand and late?

I don’t know about you, but for me, it’s kind of hard to separate Hugh Jackman‘s from his X-Men character, Wolverine.    What draws such a nice guy who was raised in a born-again Christian home to such a violent and conflicted character?  Jackman spills:

“My favorite play in drama school was The Bacchae.  It’s about a king who literally gets eaten alive by all the women in the play in a kind of orgy—it’s related to the word ‘bacchanal’—and I loved that idea of animalistic chaos and following our own desires.

I think Wolverine represents that in its most allegorical sense. He’s a man who battles between the animal and the human, between the chaos in him and the self-control he must have. We all deal with this to some extent. At which point should we let go and do what we want to do, and when should we submit to rules? Coming to terms with our true natures and who we really are has always been a fascination to humans. I know it fascinates me.”

He’s a hottie AND a philosopher?  Mercy me!

I’m beginning to wonder if Melanie Brown is capable of keeping her clothes on, because there seems to be no shortage of “Mel B in various states of undress” photos these days.  Here she is modeling Ultimo’s latest bikini collection.

I kind of like the little charms on this bikini, but of course they make it entirely impractical for actual swimming!

I was on Twitter the other day and I was watching Joel Madden talking about how he said he had to cover his tattoos up in order to fly on a British Airways flight on Saturday. They thought of them as offensive.

“Was just told by a british air person I can’t get on the plane till I cover my tatts,” Madden wrote. “Should I fight the power?”

He decided he would wear a long sleeved shirt on so he could board the plane.

“Yes i covered up to board the BA flight,” Madden tweeted later. “I didn’t want to miss it. And honestly i was embarrassed all the people were staring and laughing!”

“Its not my style to cause a scene I just had a convo with the BA guy told him how it was discrimination.  I’m gonna write a letter!!”

I know how he feels sometimes. I got a half sleeve last summer and I found that when I was wearing a t-shirt people would give me problems too. I have a koi fish on my arm. And from what I see on Joel his are all spiritual and I don’t see any naked one anywhere.

Do you think people have a right to discriminate like that?
