Kara DioGuardi Says She’s Only on ‘American Idol’ For One Season!

Kara DioGuardi

I know that not everyone’s a fan, but I am so glad that American Idol added judge Kara DioGuardi this season. The only female on the panel was Paula Abdul who has zero credibility and legitimacy in her opinions, so I was thrilled they brought Kara on board. She is a highly talented songwriter who has worked with the best in the business and has over 100 hit singles to her name. However, she recently revealed that she has only signed on to do American Idol for one season. Argh!

“I’m only here for one season,” Kara DioGuardi tells TV Guide Magazine exclusively. “That’s what we’ve discussed. So we’ll see what happens. Hopefully they’ll keep me on.”…“My life has become extremely exciting and I am so excited for this opportunity,” she says. “I feel grateful to America that they let me grow and they let me find my groove on the show and that they were patient. And hopefully I haven’t disappointed them. It’s been a scary experience at times.”

So what does big shot Simon Cowell say about whether she will return next year?

“I would imagine so, but the only say I have is about Ryan, Randy and Paula. I’ve always made it clear that I wouldn’t like to do the show without them. So that’s all I’m really concerned about.”

Of course I totally understand why they only signed her for one season- they had to see how the dynamics would play out and if it was a good move for the show. But I am definitely rooting for the return of Kara DioGuardi next season (and the termination of Paula Abdul).

What do you think of the addition of Kara DioGuardi? Do you hope she sticks around for future seasons?
