‘Lemony Snicket’ Sequel May Be Coming

lemony-snicket-1

CineFOOLS got an interview with Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events director Brad Silberling and asked about a sequel.

Prester John and I have just got back from the Land of the Lost premiere where we got to speak with director Brad Silberling, i’ll put the full interview up tomorrow but I did get to ask him if we’ll ever get to see a Lemony Snicket sequel as A Series of Unfortunate Events is on high rotation in the biggeoff house and we often discuss the want for more Snicket-y goodness. So here is what the man himself had to say.

You know it’s really funny there was a period of time, about a year ago, where I would have said “Oh, good luck” because it was mired in so many things. It was a co-production between Paramount and Dreamworks and there were studio politics and I actually think it’s going to see the light of day. <Name removed for privacy reasons> and I, he’s the writer of… is very friendly with Mr. Snicket I should say, we stay in constant touch about it, because I would love nothing more than to do that and we’ve been hoping to, so I think there will be a chance it may take a wildly different form but I think it will probably happen.

I didn’t think the first one was amazing or great, but it was certainly entertaining. I’m sure there is enough material in the remaining books to make another movie.

‘Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel’ Teaser Trailer

alvin-and-chipmunks-squeakuel-sequel

Here’s the trailer for the upcoming film Alvin and the Chipmunk’s: The Squeakquel.

I used to like Alvin and the Chipmunks when I was a kid, but the first movie looked terrible, this is obviously more of the same.

Here’s the trailer for the upcoming film Mr. Nobody

Looks really cool. I love sci-fi, surrealism and good drama, this movie looks like it has all three.

Mike Tyson’s Daughter Exodus Tyson Has Died (photo)

Mike Tyson

As I already reported this morning, Mike Tyson’s 4 year old daughter accidentally hung herself on a treadmill cord and had been in the hospital on life support.  Tragically, Exodus Tyson has died.

Exodus Tyson was pronounced dead just before noon, police Sgt. Andy Hill said. She had been on life support and police have said their investigation showed her injury on Monday was a “tragic accident.”

“There are no words to describe the tragic loss of our beloved Exodus,” the family said in a statement. “We ask you now to please respect our need at this very difficult time for privacy to grieve and try to help each other heal.”

This is the news I hope I wouldn’t have to report.  I can’t imagine the remorse the family is going through right now.  I am so sorry for their loss and I hope and pray for their hearts to heal quickly.  This is a very sad day for the Tyson family.

The picture below is of Exodus when she was a baby.

Michel Gondry’s ‘Thorn in the Heart’ is Coming Stateside

gondryheartdoc

Michelle Gondry‘s new documentary The Thorn in the Heart will be hitting the USA.

Oscilloscope Laboratories announced today that it has acquired North American distribution rights to Michel Gondry’s documentary, The Thorn in the Heart (“L’Epine dans le Coeur”), a personal look at the life of Gondry family matriarch, his aunt Suzette Gondry, and her relationship with her son, Jean-Yves.The Thorn in the Heart had its world premiere screening in the official selection at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. Oscilloscope will open the film in theaters, with a DVD and digital release to follow.

He’s a great filmmaker, it will be interesting to see what a documentary is like from him as opposed to the surreal films he usually makes (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind).

New ‘Buffy’ Movie Confirmed. Without Sara Michelle Gellar?

nogellar

Well a new Buffy movie is definitely in the works, but much to the dismay of many it will probably be a reboot which means there may be a brand new actress playing the slayer.

“Buffy” creator Joss Whedon isn’t involved and it’s not set up at a studio, but Roy Lee and Doug Davison of Vertigo Entertainment are working with original movie director Fran Rubel Kuzui and her husband, Kaz Kuzui, on what is being labeled a remake or relaunch, but not a sequel or prequel.

The new “Buffy” film, however, would have no connection to the TV series, nor would it use popular supporting characters like Angel, Willow, Xander or Spike. Vertigo and Kuzui are looking to restart the story line without trampling on the beloved existing universe created by Whedon, putting the parties in a similar situation faced by Paramount, J.J. Abrams and his crew when relaunching “Star Trek.”

I suddenly have more interest in the concept, I’m really not a fan of Sara Michelle Gellar. A new actor and complete separation from the Joss Whedon‘s TV version is probably best.

Al Pacino May Play Dr. Kevorkian in Upcoming Film

al-pacino-picture-1B6JACK_TU_B_^_TUESDAY

Al Pacino is possibly going to star in a new movie as the notorious Dr. Jack Kevorkian.

Al Pacino is in negotiations to star in “You Don’t Know Jack,” an HBO Films biopic about Dr. Jack Kevorkian that Barry Levinson will direct.

Kevorkian, also known as Dr. Death, assisted in more than 150 cases of suicide and had beaten the state court system in Michigan numerous times, but was finally convicted after he willingly sent a videotape of himself euthanizing a terminally ill man to “60 Minutes.” He was convicted of second-degree murder in 1999 and is serving his sentence in a maximum-security prison in Michigan.

Well if Pacino takes the role the film will do very well, even if it’s only on HBO.

Looks pretty standard period stuff. It’s all about the quality of the script with this one. Hopefully it’s not all just action.

Megan Hauserman Gets Her Pick of Millionaires on VH1

Megan Hauserman

She may have lost out on Bret Michaels’ heart on Rock of Love 2 and $250,000 on I Love Money , but now it seems that Megan Hauserman is getting the last laugh. The trashy blonde might get her trophy wife wish after all through her new VH1 relaity series “Megan Wants a Millionaire.” Here’s an excerpt from the press release:

This summer, Megan will put 18 millionaires to the test as they compete for her affection in Megan Wants a Millionaire, premiering Sunday, August 2, 2009.

Megan’s millionaire suitors will compete in challenges ranging from going head to head in a high roller Las Vegas tournament to shelling out money in a date auction. One by one, Megan will eliminate the guys who can’t shell out the dough, until the ultimate millionaire is left.

I highly doubt any attractive, classy dude with that much money has trouble finding a girl, so what kind of losers are they putting on this show? VH1 is such a freakin’ joke.

Kris Allen Just Wants a Little R-E-S-P-E-C-T!!

kris allen

American Idol champ Kris Allen may have won the competition and a record contract, but that’s not all he wants!

“The only thing that I really want to do is just be respected in the music industry,” Allen told reporters in a conference call. “And whether that means selling albums or winning Grammys or people just liking your music, that’s what I really want to do.”

Well, Kris, you have a lot of respect coming from our camp. In my humble, yet accurate, opinion, Kris has just as much talent and ingenuity as co-finalist Adam Lambert. Both of them have huge careers ahead of them. Love you guys!!
