Blue Man Group Movie is Coming

orlando_blueman

News I certainly didn’t expect to hear is that a new movie about the Blue Man Group is in the works.

Blue Man Group and producer Charlotte Huggins have tapped helmer David Russo to direct the Blue Man Group movie.Imax 3-D pic will be scripted by Lisa Robinson.

Huggins said a distribution deal is close for the pic as well.

Pic will be the first to star the Blue Man Group, which has been seen onstage in hundreds of cities around the world and in commercials. The original Blue Men – Chris Wink, Phil Stanton and Matt Goldman – will star (Daily Variety, Sept. 8).

Certainly a bizarre idea, I wonder what it will be about? I hope it’s sci-fi.

Pic is skedded to shoot in Paris next year with London legit director Declan Donnellan set to make his film debut. “It’s a totally amoral character,” Pattinson said, explaining that it’s a quite different role for him.

And vampires who kill and drink human blood aren’t amoral?

Will Smith Gets Hurricane Katrina Movie

will-smith-400a314hurricane-katrina

One of the first of what is sure to be many movies about the aftermath of hurricane Katrina was picked up today by Will Smith‘s company.

Sony Pictures Entertainment and Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment are set to dive into the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Studio and shingle have obtained bigscreen life rights to John Keller, an ex-Marine who orchestrated the rescue of 244 of his New Orleans neighbors after their building, the American Can Co., was flooded in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The five-story structure sat in 11 feet of water after the breach of the levees.

Nothing confirms Will Smith will actually be in the movie, but I’d be willing to bet he will be the lead.

This movie looks pretty strange, I really hope it’s good. Making a good sci-fi movie is no easy task and aliens being involved always ups the ante.

Darkhorse Contestant Kris Allen Wins ‘American Idol’

Kris Allen

With performances from David Cook, Queen Latifah, Fergie & The Black Eyed Peas, Keith Urban, Lionel Richie, KISS, Carlos Santana, Cyndi Lauper, Jason Mraz, Steve Martin, Rod Stewart, and Queen this was an American Idol finale filled with the musical elite. Many of the top 13 contestants got to perform with these artists- some of the best talents on all time (and some total weirdos).

A highlight from the night also includes Katrina Darrell (with a major boob job) being surprised on stage by an also bikini-clad Kara DioGuardi joining her in singing the song she bashed during the auditions. A lowlight was giving Tatiana Del Toro another 2 minutes in the limelight. Gag me.

Finally, the results!!! After almost 100 million votes cast, Kris Allen is the next American Idol!!!!!!!!!! He was so humble in victory that he had no words to say except “thank you” to his fans. Best of luck to Adam Lambert. He will have a crazy, amazing career!

‘Inglourious Basterds’ Gets 8 Minute Standing Ovation at Cannes

inglorious-basterds2

The new Quentin Tarantino film Inglourious Basterds got a huge standing ovation at the The Festival de Cannes today.

Brad Pitt and Quentin Tarantino walked — or, in Tarantino’s case, danced — down the red carpet for the premiere of their World War II action-comedy “Inglourious Basterds,” which the Weinstein Co. is releasing.

The movie then played to raucous cheering, with crowds giving Tarantino an eight-minute standing ovation, sizable by Cannes standards.

Good to hear that it’s being well received, Tarantino is a master of film and his work always has value. I’m more and more excited to see this one as the days pass.

Chris Pine Furry In Plaid

Chris Pine Eating Out

Chris Pine was spotted on his way out from the Il Capriccio restaurant in Los Angeles with a ‘doggie bag’ today. You would think someone that is in the blockbuster movie Star Trek wouldn’t have to worry about bring leftovers home. But that just shows that fame hasn’t got to him.

And the funny thing is that Chris almost turned down the role as Captain Kirk in Star Trek. Chris has already accepted the role in Joe Carnahan’s adaptation of James Ellroy’s novel White Jazz when he got the part in Star Trek.

“It was a huge decision choosing between the films. I was presented with an unbelievable and really difficult choice. To pick acting with Clooney and playing a character role instead of doing another leading man role was very appealing to me.

“But it was when a friend asked if, in five years time, looking back, would I regret not taking Star Trek, that I knew I didn’t want to be in the position of wondering what-if?”

I think that Chris made the right decision. Even I couldn’t turn down Star Trek.

clash2

This is among the very first images from the set of the new film Clash of the Titans.

Fresh off of last summers re-launched Hulk film, director Louis Leterrier is working on a remake of the 1981 fantasy film, Clash of the Titans. The new film stars the lead from Terminator Salvation and James Cameron’s upcoming Avatar, Sam Worthington in addition to Liam Neeson as Zeus, Ralph Fiennes as Hades, Alexa Davalos as Andromeda and Gemma Arterton as lo.

See the rest of the photos here!

These shots aren’t the most revealing or exciting, but at least we can see filming is underway. I hope the movie is as epic as it’s title demands.
