Nick Jonas Has An Old Soul

Nick Jonas

Nick Jonas is a wise man. They say that he acts much older than he really is. He was serious about his career right from the beginning. His mom, Denise explains

“I used to go to the hairdresser to get my hair straightened and Nick being just six, I would to take him with me. He used to sing to the customers and earn a little extra money for sweeping up. People noticed and he wound up with an agent. Within two years, he was on Broadway. He didn’t look back. One vacation, he even asked if he could stay on and keep working. That’s Nick. An old soul.”

How incredibly mature that is. I’m glad that Nick saw what he wanted and didn’t stop until he got it. All dreams should be like that.

Paris Hilton Looks Fried

Paris Hilton In Cannes

Paris Hilton had fun in Cannes spotted lounging around the pool at Eden Rock near Cannes, France on Monday. I think Paris is looking like she was having fun. How dark does she need to get? I am almost wondering if it is a fake tan. I think that is something she would do to look hotter.

Paris was in Cannes for the airing of a documentary on her life. I wonder if we’ll ever get to see it. Hopefully it won’t go straight to DVD.

‘Dancing with the Stars’ Finals: Shawn Johnson Wins the Freestyle Competition!

Shawn Johnson

The Pasa Doble face-off was up first for the Dancing with the Stars final, after a quick video recap of the judges visit to rehearsal this week. On a side note, it was pretty hilarious to watch Len Goodman dance with Gilles Marini).

While it was entertaining to hear the house band sing Pink‘s “So What“, the dancing was solid (except for Melissa’s little snafoo at the end of her solo). Gilles stood out by leaps and bounds, as usual.

Shawn Johnson & Mark Ballas: 9,9,10=28

Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani: 10,9,10= 29

Gilles Marini & Cheryl Burke: 10,10,10= 30

Then it was onto the freestyle dance- the most exciting dance of the season!

Olympian & DWTS season four winner Apolo Anton Ohno visited Shawn at rehearsal to give her an Olympic boost (and remind her no Olympian in the finale of the show has ever lost- no pressure). Did it pay off?

Shawn Johnson & Mark Ballas (I didn’t like it, but judges loved it): 10,10,10= 30

Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani (judges didn’t love it, but I did): 9,9,9= 27

Gilles Marini & Cheryl Burke (it was mixed emotions from the judges, but I loved it):9,10,9= 28

Wow… Shawn won the freestyle. I would have totally never called that! I don’t think it’s fair the the judges punished Melissa so severely for Tony’s choreography, when he was overdoing it all because of regrets from his last finale several years ago. How is that her fault?

The contestants will have one more dance tomorrow night to be judged, but tonight’s our only opportunity to vote. Here are the final standings:

Gilles & Shawn with a total of 58, then Melissa with a total of 56.

Vote for your favorite tonight and tune in tomorrow for the huge finale!!!

Evangeline Lilly Wows In Cannes

Evangeline Lilly Red Carpet

Evangeline Lilly looked amazing at the premiere of Looking For Eric today at the Cannes Film Festival. I know that I have been doing only posts from there, but really it’s the place to be. The dress Evangeline has on is breathtaking, I wish I knew who made it because I want one for myself.

I am still bummed that Lost won’t be returning until January of 2010. How am I going to live that long? I need to know what happened. (Okay, I haven’t seen the season finale yet but I know in true Lost fashion it has one heck of a cliffhanger. I’m sure that’s the only way that they get away with the almost year hiatus.)

Which ‘Survivor’ Winner is Battling Stage Two Hodgkin’s Lymphoma?

Jenna Morasca and Ethan Zohn

He may have won the third installment of Survivor, but now Ethan Zohn is facing a much fiercer battle than the African terrain: stage two Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

“This is the ultimate game of Survivor and there’s really only one outcome, and that’s to win,” he says. “There’s no other option.”

Night sweats and strange itching led the reality-TV star to think he had some sort of skin condition until, on April 30, he was diagnosed with stage two Hodgkin’s disease. Shortly after a swollen lymph node and a mass on the left side of his chest were found, doctors declared Zohn had a rare form of the disease called CD20-positive Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

He began chemotherapy treatments last Friday. “My life flashed before my eyes,” Zohn says of hearing his diagnosis.

Both Zohn and longtime girlfriend Jenna Morasca (who happened to win Survivor season 6) have lost parents to cancer. However, survival rates of this strain of the disease is 90%, so the two are hopeful. However, the season three sole survivor will lose those signature curly locks pretty soon.

“My hair is my identity,” he told the magazine. “I’ll get a Mohawk or something fun that I’ve always wanted to do…I’ll roll with the punches as it comes to me. That’s how I work,” he says. “I’m not getting voted out of this one.

My guess is that this dude can outwit, outplay and outlast cancer. We are behind you and praying for you, Ethan!!

Jim Carrey Plays In The Snow At Cannes

Jim Carrey in Cannes

Jim Carrey was having fun at Cannes for his Christmas Carol photocall. It looks like he had a lot of fun throwing around the snow. (It’s snowing where I live as I write this.)

The Disney movie, that takes a spin on the classic, and stars Jim as Ebenezer Scrooge and several other characters. It’s set up is like Polar Express in the way that they used motion-capture technology. This story has always been one of my favorite stories at Christmas because I love the whole past, present and future thing. This movie will hit theatres November 6th and also stars Gary Oldman, Robin Wright Penn, and Colin Firth.

Rumer Willis Brings It To ‘The Bash’

Rumer Willis Children's Benefit

Rumer Willis looked beautiful last night at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Benefit ‘The Bash’ held at the Crustacean Beverly Hills. I love that blue dress she is wearing, it really compliments her. Finally, a stylist got it right.

Rumer is appearing in Medium tonight. She plays a character who has fallen down to drugs and prostitution. Rumer said that she had fun working on the show.

“It was fun for me. It’s something I’ve never really done, been able to go outside myself and play a character that was so different from myself.”

I think that’s what I like most about acting too. It can give you a chance to do the things that you never would have a chance to do before.

Video Preview of ‘The Bachelorette’ Break Dance Competition

Yes, the producers cast a break dance instructor as one of the 30 men vying for the heart of new Bachelorette Jillian Harris, and on tonight’s episode, we get to see a dance-off, break dance style!

Enjoy this video clip of what’s to come on tonight’s premiere!

Former ‘Bachelorette’ Jen Schefft Marries Joe Waterman in Small Weekend Ceremony

joe-waterman-jen-schefft

Though her television-produced romances on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette didn’t work out, Jen Schefft has married her dream man, Joe Waterman, afterall!

“We clicked early on, and it happened so fast,” she said. “We just got along so well, and it was so easy. I never worried when I’d see him again or when he’d call.”

And a month after getting engaged, Schefft was laid off from her sales job, pushing her to have a smaller, more affordable wedding.

The small ceremony – which she promised wouldn’t include any roses a la The Bachelor and The Bachelorette - included fewer than 100 guests. “You don’t want to exclude anyone, but I just wanted close friends and family,” she said. “It’s about Joe and me, not entertaining 400 people.”

Amen, sister! Congrats to the happy couple, and may many years of happiness follow them. It seems like they have a true, meaningful, connected relationship and we wish them all the best!

James “JT” Thomas, Jr. Wins ‘Survivor’ By Unanimous Jury Vote

Survivor winner JT

Finally the person who really deserved to win actually won Survivor! I can’t remember the last time I was happy with an outcome on this show, but last night I was overjoyed when James “JT” Thomas, Jr. was crowned winner during the live finale. Not only did the 24 year old humble, adorable, sweet cattle rancher from Alabama win, but he won all 7 jury votes, as well as the fan favorite prize of $100,000. The dude racked up 1.1 million bucks in under an hour. Not bad!

As his eyes welled up with tears at the announcement, JT said “I can’t help it… I’m happy – it’s probably the happiest I’ve ever been in my life, obviously.”

Though the cowboy won against his unlikely ally from the very beginning of the show- New Yorker and Yale graduate Stephen Fishbach- JT said he owed a lot of his victory to him and that he wanted to partner with him in the future. He also called him one of the best friends he will ever have. It was a great ending to a great season- one of the best ever, I think.

Congrats, JT!
