Jessica Simpson Developing a Reality Show About Women’s Bodies

jessica simpson

Jessica Simpson has endured a lot of criticism for her body in the past year, and now she wants to bring America’s obsession with women’s bodies to the small screen. She is pitching a reality show centered around the scrutiny ladies get for their weight worldwide.

The premise of the program, titled The Price of Beauty: “She and a friend set off on a road trip around the world in search of what people find beautiful and why,” says a source.

The insider continues that the onetime Newlyweds star, 28, will be hands-on with the show — and will even try some of the “shocking things that women do to make themselves beautiful. Picture Fear Factor.”

This premise is really cool- in theory. Whether it comes out as a good show or not, we will have to see. I think it’s so interesting how in some places, thick women are regarded as the ultimate beauty because thinness is a sign of poverty. Here in the rich western world, it’s so different.

TLC Doubles Amount of ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8′ Episodes in Spite of Hardship

Kate Gosselin

I have been avoiding posts on Jon & Kate Plus 8 because everything about it makes me sick, and I am going to say something that a lot of people may not agree with- get off of Kate’s case!! Everything has been blamed on her by her husband, their families and “friends” and now the media. She has taken on this show as a job, and just like a lot of Americans, the job requires her to travel. That travel and time away from them brings in major bucks so that the kids can have a better life, go to whatever college they dream of and have amazing weddings. They only film two days a week- not every single day. And those kids are not any more exploited than Tori Spelling‘s, Denise Richards’, the Duggars, the “Little People”, or any other reality show that centers around families. When everything in the family was hunky dory, no one had anything to say about the “exploitation” of the kids.

Are actresses attacked when they go film movies away from home and don’t see their kids for a week? Or spend 12 hours on a set? No! This is a job for them, and despite what the economy looks like, she is writing books and traveling so that her family can be taken care of.

Now what makes me sick to my stomach is that TLC has doubled the amount of episodes this season to 40, up from last season’s 20. Since the season premiere brought in 9.8 million viewers- a record for the network- they have said they will continue to air the show as long as people want to see it. I know we are all a little money hungry right now, but the humane thing to do would be to step back, realize that this family is spiraling out of control and they need to concentrate on the marriage and the family.

Why don’t they provide Jon & Kate with some counseling, or a kid-free vacation away together, all expenses paid? Why don’t they help pick up the pieces that they had a part in breaking? Cashing in on people’s hardship is what got America in this mess in the first place. When we start thinking about others before ourselves, that’s when things will turn around for us.

Personally, I couldn’t stomach spending a lot of time away from my kids and having nannies helping to raise them. But we are all different people, and those kids are well cared for. Why don’t people start blaming Jon for being in his 30s and leaving bars with college girls? I mean seriously.

Adam Lambert Won’t Admit if He is Gay or Straight

Adam Lambert

Adam Lambert is ridiculously talented, absolutely gorgeous and completely original. But some speculate that images of him making out with dudes and dressing in drag that surfaced online may have cost him the American Idol title. Now he won’t confirm or deny that he is gay, and wants us to just continue to speculate:

“It’s a really, really cool thing,” the American Idol runner-up says, “to be able to show people that you can be yourself, and you should be proud of yourself, and you should own who you are and what you’re about, and never make apologies for it.”

So to those who speculate about his sexuality, he has a message. “Calm down,” he says, and “keep speculating.”

“Conforming is not cool,” he adds. “Embracing who you are and what makes you different is actually what’s really cool … The kids that are different and out there and expressive and are bold with those choices, those are the people that grow up to be people we all want to hang out with, that become celebrities or become really successful in what they do because they believe in who they are.”

This dude is so into fashion and the “glam” styling, it would be hard to imagine he is straight. And I don’t know any straight dudes who likes to dress like women and make out with boys. That being said, who really cares? He’s beautiful and talented and is going to have an amazing career. Eccentric is cool. At the same time, he should be proud of who he is either way.

What do you think?

Will Danny Gokey go ‘Dancing with the Stars’ to Spite Simon Cowell?

Danny Gokey

During his successful stint on American Idol, Danny Gokey‘s dance moves were often criticized by judge Simon Cowell. (Personally, I thought he was just a great performer and the dancing was just a by-product of his excitement and zest, but what do I know?) Now, Danny is considering doing Dancing with the Stars as long as it won’t interfere with his music and will bring attention to his foundation, Sophia’s Heart.

The 29-year-old former church music director said Tuesday he’d like to try “Dancing With The Stars,” because the “Idol” judges told him he couldn’t dance.

“I don’t know if that will fall into line with the vision of where I am going right now,” he said. “I think it’s very important not to be sidetracked with anything else but to accomplish this one thing and maybe try a few things later.”

I watched him on Regis & Kelly this morning and he again reiterated the above points. His music and Sophia’s Heart are his priorities, but ‘Dancing’ could definitely bring his pursuits more attention. I am all for it!

Jessica Alba Takes Honor To Music Class

Jessica Alba and Honor Out and About

Jessica Alba was spotted with her daughter, Honor, taking her to music class on Wednesday in Beverly Hills. I am jealous that Jessica got Honor to use the soother. I couldn’t get either one of my kids to take one. I know there were many times I wished they would!

Jessica is currently filming the movie The Killer Inside Me, with Casey Affleck and Kate Hudson. Jessica plays a prostitute in the movie.

The Celebrities Speak Out On Prop 8

Ellen Degeneres & Portia DeRossi Lance Bass

It was a really sad day in California yesterday. Prop 8 was upheld again. Which means that gay marriage is not legal and is banned. Openly gay and other celebrities have come out to speak about the decision.

Lance Bass: “The decision to uphold Prop 8 is deeply disappointing. I can only hope to one day live in a country that grants equal rights, opportunity, and freedom to all citizens.”

Ellen Degeneres: “I’m sure you heard the Prop 8 news. One day when everyone is treated with full equality, we’ll look back and realize how wrong this was.”

Melissa Etheridge: “So, will anyone be sleeping better tonight? Those full of hate and fear will surely be disappointed that 18,000 same sex couples will be living in wedded bliss, kissing their spouses goodnight, checking off those little ‘married’ boxes on all those forms we fill out nowadays. That’s really going to drive them crazy.”

Kathy Griffin: “My 89 year old mother has asked me to get her a wheelchair to take her to a protest tonight, even though she isn’t in the greatest of health. She is neither gay, nor the parent of a gay person, but she is as passionate about this decision as I am. I am so proud to march with her. Shame on the CA Supreme Court for this decision that history will not look back on fondly.”

Kim Kardashian: “This really makes me sad. I thought we were more forward thinking than this, and I’m disappointed in the Supreme Court for being so close-minded. Everyone…gay, straight, bisexual, transgendered — EVERYONE should have equal rights to marry who they want to.”

Holly Montag: “BOO CALI! Our Bill of Rights and Constitution intended equal rights for ALL regardless of race, gender, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, age or creed!”

Eliza Dushku: “Shame on California Supreme Court!”

I have been a supporter of gay marriage for awhile now. I believe that everyone should get the chance to get married. Who are we to say who we fall in love with. Gay people are people too, and they have feelings of love just like anyone else. I can’t believe I am saying this but for once in my life I agree with Holly…regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, age or creed. Let’s get this changed. We need to move forward in this world not back.

I live in Canada. Here gay marriage has been legal for years, right across the board too. Why does it have to be hard for American people to jump on the bus too? We are relaxed about it, you should too.

Lauren Conrad Cosmoplitan Cover July 2009

Lauren Conrad, from the little show The Hills, is the cover girl for the July 2009 issue of Cosmopolitan magazine.  She is opening up with the magazine about her boyfriend, Kyle Howard. I can’t believe that she is leaving The Hills. How else will I get my Lauren fix? Here are the highlights from the interview…

On her boyfriend being supportive of her: “I have to be with someone I really trust who doesn’t want to hurt my feelings and who really wants me to be happy.”

I’m glad that she found someone that can be supportive of her and her work.

Ashley Tisdale Brings On The Skinny

Ashley Tisdale OK Cover

Ashley Tisdale on the latest issue of OK! magazine talking about her new boyfriend, her new album, and her new body. I really like Ashley since she dyed her hair. And well I loved her in High School Musical 3 (don’t judge me because I have to watch that movie a million times in a row) too. That song, I Want It All, is one of my favorite songs ever.

Here are the highlights from the interview…

On Hollywood’s obsession with being thin: “I’ve been very skinny my whole life… I don’t really like this look. I like curves — I think that’s more beautiful… I look at Jessica Alba and think she’s got a great body. I think that’s what women are supposed to look like.”

On her eating habits: “I love French fries and bread, and when I’m on tour I have McDonald’s… At home, I like to cook — I love omelets in the morning. Still, I have started working out, so I do try to limit carbs and add protein. I want to build a little muscle.”

On her new album, Guilty Pleasure: “It’s edgier and more mature… There’s a lot of breakup songs fr’re in a relationship and you say ‘If I really needed you, would you actually be there?’ ”

On her ideal man: “I’m a big romantic, so I love guys who are romantic too. I think it’s important to be with someone that you can be yourself around. I need a guy that I can hang out with in sweats and no makeup and still feel comfortable and beautiful. Someone who’s trustworthy.”
