‘Terminator 5′ Coming? (Image)

While the fate of the Terminator franchise continuing is still a question, here’s what the plans would be if a sequel does happen.

Back in April, Film Journal ran their Terminator Salvation promo interview. Here’s McG on his plans for a follow up:

I strongly suspect the next movie is going to take place in a 2011. John Connor is going to travel back in time and he’s going to have to galvanize the militaries of the world for an impending Skynet invasion. They’ve figured out time travel to the degree where they can send more than one naked entity. So you’re going to have hunter killers and transports and harvesters and everything arriving in our time and Connor fighting back with conventional military warfare, which I think is going to be fucking awesome.

If they do make Terminator 5 I would hope they don’t keep McG at all. Terminator Salvation was a pretty lifeless parade of special effects.

Is the Metalhead version of Star Wars?

    It certainly sounds like it.

I swear, McG has no concept of what the Terminator Universe is all about. He is talking about Skynet sending back machines of various sizes. This means, metal through the time field, which as anyone who has actually seen the first Terminator will remember what Kyle Reese said in regards to time travel: “(The Terminator is) surrounded by living tissue… Nothing dead will go”. Dead, in this case, means a non-living entity, like metal. Now, granted, Skynet would discover how to send liquid metal back in time, as with the T-1000 and the T-X in both Terminator 2 and Terminator 3. The theory in these cases is that Skynet found a way to merge bio-matter with the liquid metal, thus allowing their passage to be successful within the time field. But, to do this on a scale large enough for HKs? Now, that is overkill and a waste of resources. What the hell would be the point?
