Bill Nighy is in ‘Harry Potter 7′, as Scrimgeour?

Bill Nighy (UnderworldPirates of the Caribbean) is going to play a part in the final two Harry Potter movies, but we don’t know if he’s playing the character Scrimgeour or somebody else.

It’s been a running thing with the actor where he has often dropped hints in interviews that he was one of the few British actors not to be cast in a role in any of the previous six films, so his nudges finally paid off.

“I don’t think I’m allowed to say it but I’m going to be in the next Harry Potter film,” he told the newspaper. “I won’t say which character, but he’s a goodie. I just got the gig.”

The Leaky Cauldron reported this casting on their “PotterCast” a few weeks back and they believe the veteran actor will be playing Rufus Scrimgeour, a veteran Auror in the Ministry of Magic who spends most of his time fighting Dark Wizards.

The first half of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is scheduled for release on November 19, 2010 with the second half scheduled for July 15, 2011.

He’s a great actor and certainly a good addition to the final installments in the Harry Potter series.
