Great news for fans of the film 300, the sequel is definitely coming and director Zack Snider has plenty to say about it. 

“I know for a fact that Frank [Miller] is writing right now,” says Snyder, who explains that the plan is for Miller to create the story as a comic book first, “[He's] drawing away and seems to be knee-deep in it. I think he’s going to head back to Greece again and do another reconnaissance.”

With the first 300 having been created on a decidedly smaller budget than Watchmen, Snyder says that he probably wants the look and feel of a sequel to maintain that of 300, even though Miller’s notes promise a grander scale.

“I think we would use the same technology… I don’t want it to look too Star Wars-ian… Just from what [Miller] told me, it would be bigger as far as landscape and terrain. We’re going to see Athens and the Aegean and other places. There would be an opportunity for bigger visions, though I’d hope for the same aesthetic. The tech we used for ’300′ was not a revolution. It’s basically what the weatherman has. Look, instead of Accuweather it’s Sparta… It’s going to be the same way, but on crazier steroids.”

It’s sure to be incredibly visually entertaining, I just hope this one has a better story than the first one.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has broken the record for the biggest Wednesday movie opening in film history. 

Grossing north of $55 million, Paramount’s sequel “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” easily scored the best opening day ever for a Wednesday release at the domestic box office.

Previous record-holder was “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” which grossed $44.2 million in its first day.

Par will release an official Wednesday number Thursday morning.

“Transformers 2,” playing in more than 4,200 theaters in the U.S., has a strong shot at eclipsing the $152.4 million earned by “Spider-Man 2″ in its first five days. That film opened on the same Wednesday in 2004.

That’s a lot of money! Imagine what it’s going to make over the weekend! This is looking to be the biggest money maker of the year, unless Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince can top it in July.

Ryan Reynolds has been cast in a new film called Buried. 

Reynolds will star in “Buried,” playing a civilian contractor who’s kidnapped in Iraq and awakens buried in a coffin in the desert, armed only with a cell phone, a candle and a knife.

Rodrigo Cortes will direct a script by Chris Sparling; production will begin this month in Barcelona.

Sounds like a rough way to start your day, hope there’s a bigger hook to the story than just that. Will it be a revenge film? Or will it just be an hour and a half of Ryan Reynolds flexing his alien like abs in a poorly lit coffin while talking on the phone?

This has been such a heartbreaking scene to watch. Farrah Fawcett suffering, slipping away.  Seeing it all right in front of you.  Wow.  It’s been hard from our perspective, but I can’t even imagine what this has been like for her family and close friends.

TMZ is reporting:

Farrah Fawcett is reportedly close to death.

Numerous reports have surfaced that family members are gathering for their final goodbyes.

Farrah’s health has been deteriorating ever since she was diagnosed with anal cancer three years ago.

We just spoke to Farrah’s rep, who would only tell us, “She continues to be treated for her condition.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with Farrah and her entire family during this painful time.

I am sure that they want to keep the exact details behind closed doors for the time being.  As soon as any new information is released, we will have it for you here on Backseat Cuddler.

Miley Cyrus is down in Savannah, GA filiming her latest movie, The Last Song and firing up a fresh romance with her man, Nick Jonas.

So, I want to know how she has time to be posing in these questionable photos for the movie’s director, Adam Shankman?  I am a fan of Miley and wish that she would think before posing sometimes.  These pics are probably harmless, but they appear to be a little too steamy for her and the director…..  And furthermore, why is Shankman posting these photos on Twitter?  How does he have a right to do that?  Well, he does think he’s entitled as he defends his actions…..

“Miley is a sweet angel who works tirelessly and endlessly, and is allowed to have fun in the make up room! Seriously! Lighten up or no more behind the scenes pics! She’s like my angel little sister.”

I think Miley knows how to be hot and there is nothing wrong with that.  But, she needs to share that hotness with her man, Nick.  Not her creepy director.

In a strange move the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that the next Oscars will feature not 5 nominees for best picture, but an astounding 10. One winner will be selected as usual. 

“After more than six decades, the Academy is returning to some of its earlier roots, when a wider field competed for the top award of the year,” said Ganis. “The final outcome, of course, will be the same – one Best Picture winner – but the race to the finish line will feature 10, not just five, great movies from 2009.”

This seems like a strange and desperate attempt to gain more attention. What movies that have come out already this year that you think could possibly land in that top 10?
