Mischa Barton’s Rep Responds To Hospitalization

Actress and headband designer Mischa Barton was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center due to a “medical condition” on Wednesday evening after calling the police.  While, due to HIPPA law, it is illegal for the hospital to release information on a client, it is rumored that she is being held on a “5150″ hold and usually those held under this are kept under observation for 72 hours.

A 5150 is considered a psychiatric emergency, when a person is deemed a danger to themselves, to others or is gravely disabled,” explains L.A.-based psychiatrist Daniel B. Borenstein, M.D., who’s not involved in the case. “A serious risk of suicide is a primary reason for the hold, as well as those suffering from severe depression or schizophrenia.”

People can voluntarily be treated for longer than 72 hours, but not against their will.

After all this time, Mischa’s rep made a statement.  They must be good at their job because they are not giving any information other than what we already know.

“Ms. Barton was safely transferred to medical treatment for which she remains hospitalized, as per the recommendation of her doctor,”

When she does get out, Mischa will begin filming The Beautiful Life: TBL for the CW.  Her rep said that her participation in the show

“will ultimately be contingent upon her progress and doctor’s orders.”

We just hope that Mischa gets better.
