Emporio Armani is continually lining up superstars to front their multi-million dollar ad campaigns. Reports are circulating that Angelina Jolie will be the face of a brand new fragrance for the fashion house.

A source tells The Insider, “For this fragrance push, they needed a true A-lister, and Angelina is the biggest, most dynamic female star in the world. She’s giving a lot of input on that stuff (ad campaign) already, picking the photographers and directors. The campaign is going to be bold.”

This could be how those rumours got started of the sultry star posing with David Beckham in an upcoming underwear ad. For his part, the soccer star has said no, he would not do a photo shoot with Jolie because he is married. 

He has had problems in the past with his roving eye so certainly Victoria Beckham will be happy with that statement.

Vogue España has dressed Lindsay Lohan up like Marilyn Monroe and put her on the cover of their August issue.  Did they think we had already forgotten about her re-creation of Marilyn’s “Last Sitting” photos for New York Magazine last year?  

These pictures are pretty, though.  Lindsay always does alright when the job description involves looking kind of slutty.

One of the producers of The Dark Knight is going to bring us the live action version of Voltron.

Producers Charles Roven(The Dark Knight), Richard Suckle (The International) and Steve Alexander have acquired the rights to make a film based on the Japanese anime property after several years in development at various production companies.

The live-action project has been in development since 2004, and interest skyrocketed after the box office success of Michael Bay’s Transformers. Mark Gordon had been developing the project, and geek screenwriter Justin Marks had written a screenplay which adapted the idea as an alien invasion film based on Earth. The project was set up at New Regency but last year was put into turnaround. Relativity Media came on board briefly (One Last Dance helmer Max Makowski was attached to direct), before Atlas acquired the rights.

This film will really have to be impressive with a great script if it’s going to do well, especially with Robotech in development as a live action movie too. All these robot movies need more soul!

Military details and braids reminiscent of a farmer’s daughter are on tap for Chanel’s 2009 & 2010 Fall/Winter Ad campaign. Models Heidi Mount and Freja Beha Erichsen are decked out jackets with a strong shoulder silhoutte with soldier-like buttons angled down the front. The hair is softer and decidedly feminine to counterpoint the strong masculine jackets. As always, the ads are shot by Karl Lagerfeld and his vision is ahead of the curve.

Sophie Dahl has been known to turn heads. The model who has written three books including the cookbook: Miss Dahl’s Voluptous Delights, is now getting her own cooking show on BBC 2. The granddaughter of the great children’s author Roald Dahl, could give Nigella Lawson a run for her ‘Domestic Goddess’ money.

Dahl said: “For me, food is more than just fuel; it’s a joy and an adventure.

“Cooking often serves as an emotional barometer, and with this show we will run the gamut – from a solo dinner that suits melancholy, to a homecoming feast for 20; it’s cooking with an anecdotal thread, irreverent, unpredictable and not without flaw.”

Dahl has graced the covers of many magazines in the past, including Vogue and Elle. As well as hosting this upcoming cooking show, she is a guest writer on many fashion and food magazines. Perhaps her show will prove as popular as Lawson’s was and cross over to the US.

Hugh Hefner’s sexy blonde girlfriends Karissa Shannon and Kristina Shannon
were out in Las Vegas doing  a Sin City signing session for ‘Playboy’s Miss July and Miss August‘ at the Playboy Store.  I am totally digging on their pink bikinis, very hot and those heels, well I couldn’t pull those off but I love the bikinis..

These girls are so identical, it’s nuts.  I wonder if they ever play tricks on Hugh?  I bet he loves all the ‘games’ they play with him.   LOL

We will be seeing a lot more of Karissa and Kristina on the upcoming season of The Girls Next Door.

Dire news came down the pipe about the possible cancellation of the upcoming films based on The Hobbit book from J.R.R. Tolkien because of a major lawsuit. Even with the possibility still present, construction has begun to rebuild Hobbiton for the films.

TheOneRing.net reports that rebuilding of Hobbiton has begun for the filming of The Hobbit and its sequel. The first film is scheduled for a December 2011 release, followed by the second film in December of 2012. The site says:

The re-building of Hobbiton has begun, with the planting of hedgerows and fruit trees. An extension to the path that passes in front of Bag End has been marked out also. There will be several new Hobbit holes dotted along its length.

I really hope the films get made, director Guillermo del Toro is such a perfect choice for the pictures. And hopefully they will make their 2011 and 2012 projected release dates. Only time will tell but I’m betting it’ll happen.

The famous author of Angela’s Ashes, Frank McCourt died today (July 19th)  in New York from Melanoma.  He was 78 years old.  He will be missed dearly.

Frank wrote about his poverty stricken, Irish childhood.  He melted hearts across the world. Frank leaves a legacy and a lifetime of endearing memories.
