Brooke Shields Saves Humanity From Inadequate Eyelashes

Thank goodness for Brooke Shields and Allergan!  The drug maker has hired the star to hock Latisse, a remedy for – get this – hypotrichosis.

Hypotrichosis is a horrible malady also known as having short eyelashes, and apparently Brooke suffered from it until she started using this new drug.  Yes, folks, there is a drug to solve your short eyelash problem.

Back in the day, the remedy for short eyelashes was mascara.  It was considered an aesthetic problem, not a medical problem.  I am not sure which bothers me more, the fact that there’s now a drug for this, or the fact that Brooke Shields can’t stop pimping beauty products.  Is she really that hard up for money since Lipstick Jungle was cancelled?

‘Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day’ New Details

boondock_saints

New details for Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day will emerge at this year’s Comic-Con. Here’s who to expect at the event.

Sony Pictures has announced the details of The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day panel at 2009 San Diego Comic Con International. The trailer for the much anticipated sequel to the 1999 cult classic film The Boondock Saints will premiere during the panel on Saturday, July 25th at 3:30pm. Talent in attendance for the panel includes:

  • Troy Duffy (writer/director)
  • Billy Connolly (Noah ‘Il Duce’ McManus)
  • Norman Reedus (Murphy McManus)
  • Sean Patrick Flannery (Connor McManus)
  • Julie Benz (Eunice Bloom)
  • Clifton Collins, Jr. (Romeo)
  • David Della Rocco (Rocco)

Fans of the original (of which there are many) will be flipping out for this film. In my opinion Troy Duffy should never be allowed to work again, not because he’s not a good director, he’s just a really bad person. Hopefully he’s changed. See the documentary Overnight, and you’ll see what I mean.

‘Spider-Man 4′ Getting Second Re-Write by Gary Ross

spiderman-4

Spider-Man 4 is getting re-written again, this time by Gary Ross, director of Seabiscuit and Pleasantville.

Sam Raimi will again direct the Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios project that will go into production early next year.

The Spider-Man 4 script was originally written by James Vanderbilt, and then rewritten by David Lindsay-Abaire.

The fourth installment is scheduled for a May 6, 2011 release.

I’m hoping with all of these re-writes it’s going to come out better than Spider-Man 3, that was a terrible movie.

First Look at Drew Barrymore’s ‘Whip It’

whipitpic

Here’s the very first image released for Drew Barrymore‘s directorial debut, Whip It.

The film stars Ellen Page (Juno) as Bliss, a rebellious Texas teen who throws in her small town beauty pageant crown for the rowdy world of roller derby. Marcia Gay Harden plays Bliss’ disapproving mother, while Kristen Wiig (“Saturday Night Live”) and Juliette Lewis play roller-derby stars. Eve, Jimmy Fallon and Daniel Stern also star.

Sounds like it will be funny, great cast! I’m surprised Drew Barrymore took this long to direct a movie, considering her long history in this business.

Michael Moore’s New Documentary Called ‘Capitalism: A Love Story’

mooremoney

Capitalism: A Love Story is the official name for Michael Moore‘s next documentary.

Michael Moore’s opting to spoof romantic conventions in titling his upcoming documentary “Capitalism: A Love Story,” which addresses the causes of the global economic meltdown.

“It will be the perfect date movie,” Moore said in an announcement Wednesday. “It’s got it all — lust, passion, romance and 14,000 jobs being eliminated every day. It’s a forbidden love, one that dare not speak its name. Heck, let’s just say it: It’s capitalism.”

Moore and Overture Films had announced previously that the film would be released domestically on Oct. 2 — a year and a day after the U.S. Senate voted to approve a $700 billion bailout of Wall Street. Paramount Vantage will handle international distribution.

The film is described as focusing on “the disastrous impact that corporate dominance and out-of-control profit motives have on the lives of Americans and citizens of the world.”

You can count on Michael Moore‘s extreme and often disrespectful filmmaking, but you can also expect an entertaining show. Just don’t expect an unbiased opinion.

Warner Bros. Wins Against ‘Superman’ Lawsuit

wb-logosuperman

Warner Brothers has won the case filed against them for the Superman franchise.

Warner Bros. and DC Comics have won a favorable ruling in the suit filed by the heirs of ”Superman” co-creator Jerome Siegel.

In a decision announced Wednesday, U.S. Judge District Court Judge Stephen G. Larson found that the license fees the studio paid to corporate sibling DC Comics didn’t represent “sweetheart” deals as they weren’t below fair market value. That means the heirs will be able seek profits only from DC Comics — which earned $13.6 million from Warner Bros. for the 2006 release of ”Superman Returns” – rather than from Warner Bros. as well.

“DC Comics and Warner Bros. Entertainment are very gratified by the court’s thorough and well-reasoned decision in this matter,” the companies said in a joint statement. “The decision validates what DC and Warner Bros. have maintained from the beginning, which is that when they do business with each other, they always strive for — and achieve — fair market value in their transactions. We are very pleased that the court found there was no merit to plaintiffs’ position that the Superman deals were unfair to DC Comics and, by extension, the plaintiffs.”

People are always trying to get more and more money from everyone else, it’s a cutthroat business. Goes to show that when you have movies making your company more than a billion dollars in a year, you can afford good lawyers.

Will Smith and the Director of ‘Legend’ Together Again

will_smithlawerence

Will Smith is back working with Francis Lawrence, director of I Am Legend.

Lawrence is aboard to develop and direct “City That Sailed,” a 20th Century Fox project about a father and daughter living on opposite sides of the ocean whose love is so strong that it causes Manhattan to split off and float across the Atlantic.

The film will be developed as a potential star vehicle for Smith, who is producing with Overbrook Entertainment partner James Lassiter.

Doesn’t sound like the most dramatic movie, but I’m sure it will have some quality, but also lots of CGI.

Jude Law Shows Off His NEW Tattoo In His SEXY Sheer Shirt (photos)

Jude Law sheer shirt and new tattoo

Jude Law was swamped by his adoring female fans as he left Wyndham’s Theater after he performed in a new production of Hamlet.

Jude is one of Hollywood’s sexiest men and he looked extremely hot in his sheer, black shirt.  You can see his nipples!  Did you notice his sexy new tattoo on his arm?  I want to see it up close so I can read it.

I love all the woman mobbing him, you know you’d be on him too if you could!  Yum!

Mark Burnett Gets His Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame (photo)

Mark Burnett gets his star

The king of Reality TV, Mark Burnett was given his Star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame today and I think he has earned it.

Mark Burnett will receive the 2,387th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today because, as The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s announcement says, he “has produced more than 1,100 hours of television programming which regularly airs in excess of 70 countries worldwide,” never mind that he has “revolutionized television.”

That’s quite an accomplishment.  Something I didn’t know, is that in order to get a star you must first get nominated, pay $25,000, and be part of the ceremony when they present it to you.  WOW.  That’s a chunk of change you have to pay out to be ‘honored’.  Geesh, kind of reminds me of having to pay for Little League trophies!  What’s next?  Charging for Oscars?
