While performing at the Teen Choice Awards earlier this August, Miley Cyrus, 16, caused a bit of a stir by incorporating a ‘dance pole’ while wearing teeny tiny shorts into her routine for Party In the U.S.A. All the while, Miley’s dad, singer/actor Billy Ray Cyrus was in the audience, and was seen applauding for her after her performance was over.

When asked about the responses Miley received over her somewhat suggestive performance at the Teen Choice Awards show, Billy Ray was only supportive of his daughter.

“You know what? I just think that Miley loves entertaining people,” “She loves singing [and] songwriting.”

“I always tell her to love what you’re doing and stay focused for the love of the art and not worry so much about opinion,”

I don’t know if dancing on a pole in booty shorts is art, but I have to give daddy Cyrus a hand for not bad mouthing his own daughter to the press.
