Dirty Dancing Town Holds Patrick Swayze Memorial

The North Carolina town in which the dance movie Dirty Dancing was filmed will hold a memorial to honor Patrick Swayze this Saturday (September 19). Swayze, who died of pancreatic cancer on Monday (September 14), played Johnny Castle the bad boy dance instructor in the 1987 drama, co-starring Jennifer Grey. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe for that role.
On Saturday, the town of Lake Lure will remember the his life with a memorial service at 7 p.m. at Firefly Cove — the housing development that served as Camp Chimney in Dirty Dancing.
There is no fee to come to the memorial service, but donations are welcome. All donations will be given to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
