‘Thomas The Tank Engine’ Gets a Movie
Thomas the Tank Engine is getting made into a feature film, with a mix of live action and CGI animation.
The cheeky children‘s book character is en route to the big screen via HIT Entertainment, which has hired screenwriter Josh Klausner to write a script for a feature based on the tiny-train world “Thomas & Friends” created by the Rev. W.V. Awdry in the 1940s.
Thomas represents the world’s most popular preschool property, with more than 100 million books and wooden train accessories sold globally. HIT plans a new CGI animated TV series for next year (Thomas’ 65th birthday) that will for the first time provide voices for Thomas, Percy, James, Toby and the rest, and the new film project — a mix of live-action and CGI — is slated for a spring 2011 release.
Spring 2011 gives people enough time to conceive a baby and make them a fan of the series before the movie hits theaters. This is definitely going to be a film for the young ones. I still don’t get the appeal, but maybe I’m a little too old; Teletubbies was a mystery too.

It’s gonna suck big time. HiT have lost their way with Thomas in my opinion. It has little connection with its roots now and it is motivated by greed rather than going back to the beginning and actually putting the original stories onto the screen as they were written.
No offense but what is with the likes of the characters Hiro and Hank?!
Two locos that could never run in the UK and also were never written about by the Awdry’s? Just a thought!
MY SON INCREDIBALLY LOVES THOMAS!
Sorry to the lovers. With HIT entertainment in charge the movie is bound to be just another painful experience to fan of the Railway series and older fans. Thomas the Tank Engine is no longer what the Rev. W.V. Awdry wanted it to be. It used to be entertainment with morals and realism, but now its udder hogwash with repetitive storylines and concept no different to Chuggingtons. I swore that if I have children one day they will be only watching Seasons 1-6. I personally disregard all episodes done by HIT as being canon to the series
i dont like the new tomas when i was a kid after watching tomas i wanted to go to the national railway museum in york and see them in real life but now it has changed for the worse although to be honest post man pat and fire man sam have all turn out the same.
I agree 100% I loved and still do the ORIGINAL Thomas it was great with the magic railroad and the narrated Thomas videos but Thomas is still thomas and always will live on in my heart !!!!
