David Letterman Extortion Case UPDATE – Regina Flasko – Stephanie Birkitt – Robert J Halderman Photos & Video

So we all got to see David Letterman do his confession on his show last night (below) and well, this is just a very ugly case of jealously, infidelity, and extortion.  SO who is suffering the worst?  I would have to say it’s Letterman’s wife, Regina Lasko and their son, Harry. SO not fair for either of them.  How wrong is the picture (above) with Stephanie Birkitt (his former mistress) all cozy up behind him?

They latest update on this fiasco is:

-Stephanie Birkitt is Letteman’s former assistant that he had an affair with.(It ended 6 years ago)
- Robert “Joe” Halderman is a producer for 48 hours was in a live-in relationship with Birkett.  They broke up recently and Halderman got into Birkett’s diary and found some ‘info’ that obviously revealed her feelings for Letterman and we can speculate that was the trigger for the extortion plot.

So Joe Halderman was willing to sacrifice his reputation and his esteemed career as a respected producer over a woman that dumped him?  And he was going to use her diary as evidence to bust Letterman?  Great plan, dude.  Glad that worked out for ya. By the way, as you can see in the video, Halderman was intending to make a movie and write a book about Letterman’s affairs.  Give me a break!

What are your thoughts on all of this?  Have you lost respect for Letterman?  Do you think that Regina Lasko should leave him?  Share your thoughts below….

All over the world, people are dipping their pen in company ink. Letterman is no different, he wasn’t married at the time and who knows what the status was of his relationship with Regina at the time.

I applaud Dave for being proactive – he won’t lose any fans over this. I heart Dave.

I don’t know why anyone would be surprised with the news that a powerful person/star would be involved in an affair. I feel terrible for his wife Regina, who has to watch her husband confess to his infidelity in front of the entire world.

What a jerk this Halderman is. I hope he spends the rest of his life in prison because his actions are disgraceful.

I admire David Letterman for his honesty or rather confession to his viewers. The only concern to me is someone extorting him, so that he had to feel fear for his family. After all someone broke into his car, and put the threatening letter in Letterman’s own car. He had sex with women he worked with, big deal. He didn’t demand sex, they wanted to have sex with him. Think about it, he’s powerful, funny, a good man, these women wanted it. I’m sure his focus is on his wife and son. These sexual affairs, happened before Harry’s birth and before his marriage. Mr. letterman has never been a public partying type of guy, so I’d assume most of his private encounters would be with people he worked with. That seems normal. And if everyone would have to be afraid of extortion because of having sex with someone, that’d be almost everyone, wouldn’t it? Get real people I respect him as much today as ever before. Bless his heart.

There is no evidence as yet that there was any true infidelity involved … everything I’ve heard so far says all relationships ended before the birth of his son, and WELL before he married Ms. Lasko. And the two women identified so far as being involved with him both say they did it willingly — there was no harrassment involved.

I find the whole thing such a total NON-story except for the blackmail attempt part. I met my husband at the workplace. Dave openly dated and lived with many women who worked for his company. I would’ve been astonished to find that he HADN’T ever had sex with some of the women he interacted with every day. As for being a prize — he’s powerful, incredibly smart, extremely funny, rich, in good shape, and not bad looking. In the dating realm he’s definitely in the top 10 percent of men … maybe the top 1 percent.

Any further coverage is just to satisfy the prurient (read: NOSY) interest of the public. Let it die and let him and his family get on with their lives.

David Letterman has (consentional) sex. SO WHAT! Robert Halderman (criminally) attempts to extort $2M from David Letterman. NOW, THERE IS YOUR STORY!

Doesn’t anyone find it strange that Dave married a woman that looks like a man?

HEY, eyesight2020: don’t bash DL’s wife’s looks. Do YOU (or anyone else) look the same as you did 20+ years ago? Regardless, it has nothing to do with anything; just renders YOU a douche!
