Kelly Ann Walz Mauled To Death By Her Pet Bear (Photos)

Black Bear

This is a horrifying story.  The only reason I am even doing this post is to make the point that humans should not keep these kinds of ‘pets’.

Kelly Ann Walz was mauled to death last night (October 4th) by her ‘pet’ bear.  Walz kept a 350 pound black bear locked up in a steel and concrete cage near her home outside of Allentown, PA in the Ross Township area.

Walz was cleaning out the cage, had her back turned to the bear after giving it some dog food, and it attacked her.

At this point, we know that the bear was shot and killed, we don’t know who the shooter was.  But, what we do know is that Kelly Ann Walz was a 37 year old woman who lost her life after being mauled to death by her ‘pet’ bear.

Kelly Ann Walz has also kept a Bengal tiger and an African lion.  I would love to know why she was given licenses to own these types of animals.  Clearly it was not a safe environment.  Such a tragic loss of life.

Wild animals aren’t meant to be kept in small cages.  They should be in the wild or in a habitat that is suited for them.

I am very sorry for Kelly Ann Walz’ family. My heart goes out to them.  I just hope that there can be a lesson learned here so no other lives have to be lost, for nothing.

R.I.P. Kelly Ann Walz
