Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon on New ‘Invictus’ Poster from Clint Eastwood

invictus

Here’s the new poster for the upcoming Clint Eastwood film Invictus starring Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon.

The film tells the inspiring true story of how Nelson Mandela joined forces with the captain of South Africa’s rugby team to help unite their country. Newly elected President Mandela knows his nation remains racially and economically divided in the wake of apartheid. Believing he can bring his people together through the universal language of sport, Mandela rallies South Africa’s rugby team as they make their historic run to the 1995 Rugby World Cup Championship match.

Doesn’t sound like a very exciting movie, in fact it sounds boring. But hey, this is Clint Eastwood directing, I’m sure its a good film. It just seems odd.

How can ou judge whehter or not this movie is boring. Do you have even a remote understanding of the subject at hand? Nelson Mandela could have easily lead the majority ruled black South Africa into a period of retaliation against their former tormentors, the minority white rulers of the apartheid period. He did not but instead used rugby, traditionally a symbol of white repression by the black majority, as a way to bring his people together.

This is a great story of leadership wiht sport as a back drop.

Take the time to understand what the story is about before deciding whether or not something is boring – or simply say nothing at all.
