Sheldon Dorf Dead at 76

Founder of Comic-Con, Sheldon ‘Shel’ Dorf, has died at the age of 76 in  a San Diego hospital on Tuesday from kidney failure. Sheldon Dorf had been hospitalized for the past year since his diabetes worsened.

Dorf  founded Comic-Con in San Diego in 1970.  He moved out west from Detroit.

125,000 fans show up every year now for the Comic-Con event  and is a massive venue for comic book fans, artists, writers and movie stars to mesh.

R.I.P. Sheldon Dorf
