‘Avatar’ and ‘Holmes’ Break Box Office Records

Avatar Postersherlockholmes-3

This past weekend (Dec 25-27) was huge for moviegoers, Christmas day saw the biggest box office numbers in history for the holiday. Avatar still maintained the #1 slot with $75 million with newcomer Sherlock Holmes taking second with a hefty $65.3 million. At #3 was Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel which also pulled an impressive $50.2 million, not to mention It’s Complicated and it’s $22.1 taking the #4 slot. Clearly people wanted to get away from the family or at least get them to shut up for the length of a movie.
