Taylor Lautner, star of The Twilight Saga has been cast in a new action film called Cancun.

The project is acting as starring vehicle for Lautner and is the first project from the newly established production shingle he shares with his dad, Dan Lautner.

Dan Lautner is in discussion to produce the movie with Temple Hill’s Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen, who forged a relationship with the actor whom they worked on Summit’s “Twilight Sage: New Moon.”

The story follows an out-of-place college kid who travels with a girl to Cancun on a break. While there, the girl and her friends are taken hostage by a drug cartel and he is forced to save them. The story is designed to take advantage of Lautner’s martial arts skills, which he showed off when he hosted “Saturday Night Live” this past weekend.

Taylor Lautner is certainly on a path of long term success, hopefully his acting skills will improve with age and experience. I didn’t know he was a martial artist, it would be pretty funny if he became the next big action star.

Here’s the poster for the new film Stay Cool starring Winona Ryder, Hilary Duff, Sean Astin and Josh Holloway.

An author who returns to his hometown to deliver a commencement address to a class of graduating high school students has to deal with his feelings for an old flame as well as the advances of a student who has the hots for him.

Not my kind of movie, but it has some good actors in it. Sean Astin hasn’t done much since Lord of the Rings, I can’t help but wonder why.

Here’s the international trailer for the upcoming film Edge of Darkness starring Mel Gibson.

I think this movie is going to be good, Casino Royale director Martin Campbell certainly knows his way around with driving steely-yet-emotional characters. And Mel Gibson is a talented and obviously knows the hardened cop role like few others do. I expect a lot.

This trailer really made me laugh, I love that Tom Cruise has become a parody of himself. I would see this movie based on this one trailer, looks like a lot of fun and laughs.

It’s being reported that Peter Jackson could be adapting the book Mortal Engines for the big screen.

Peter Jackson is secretly working to adapt the Mortal Enginesfantasy novels for the screen.

The hush-hush project is understood to be in early development, with work on the first of the four books under way, industry sources say….

…A spokesman for Jackson did not deny the project was on the books yesterday, but said “any comment should come from Peter”.

Jackson, who is understood to have had the rights to the books for some time, was unavailable for comment.

The books, by Philip Reeve, are set in a post-apocalyptic world where cities have become giant vehicles and must consume each other to survive. Mortal Engines is the first book in the series, and has won a Nestle Smarties Book Prize and was shortlisted for the 2002 Whitbread Award.

This sounds much more like a movie Peter Jackson should be working on, enough with these Lovely Bones type movies. He needs to make epics, sorry Peter, that’s all I’ll accept after you infuriated me with The Lovely Bones.

They have been teasing us with pictures here and there. But Tara Reid’s Playboy spread in all of it’s glory has arrived.  I was really hoping that she’d have a great photo shoot and she did!  I know it’s a naked woman, but it’s a totally fun spread.  Nice work!

Hopefully this has cured Tara Reid of any insecurities she had about her body image… it’s fabulous!

These are both fresh new images from the upcoming film Prince of Persia starring Jake Gyllenhaal.

The movie is out on May 28th, 2010 and I’m actually really looking forward to it. Looks like a lot of fun. Probably another case of style over substance, but it’s certainly a popcorn flick.

OMG.  I cannot believe these pictures.  It’s like looking at a younger version of Pamela Anderson, the TRAIN WRECK! Agggg! Britney Spears was in New York City catching a plane at JFK airport when she was photographed looking like hell.  Honestly, what is she thinking?  Britney Spears is in the middle of a huge comeback, you can’t go out in public like that! You have a fresh, new image to uphold.  That hair, those glasses, it’s all wrong.   Britney is far too young for this.  I love you to death, Brit!  Get your stylist on it quick!

The man who inspired Dustin Hoffman‘s character in the film Rain Man, Kim Peek has died. He passed from a heart attack on December 19th, 2009.

Kim Peek had an impressive photographic memory and had memorized more than 9000 books by the time of his death.  Surprisingly, the savant’s memory was actually improving with age.

Kim Peek was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints (commonly referred to as Mormon).

9000 books memorized!? Thats truly amazing. Condolences to his family and friend in this difficult time.

Rachel Bilson was spotted out and about in Toluca Lake yesterday (December 21) all be herself. She looks so lonely and sad.  I am not sure if maybe she was just cold, or maybe her man Hayden Christensen didn’t get her a nice Christmas gift, did he go all Vder on her?  Hmmmmm, will Rachel have a Blue, Blue Christmas or was this an off day?
