We already knew this was happening, but now Simon Cowell has made it official.  He will be leaving American Idol after this season to be a judge and executive producer on The X Factor.

“I was offered a lot of money to stay on,” Cowell said. “But that wasn’t the reason behind it. I wanted to do something different. I wanted a new challenge.  You want to leave on a high.  I’m very proud of what the show has achieved.”

Congrats to Simon!  I can already see you and Paula Abdul side by side at the X Factor judge’s table, back together, just where you two belong! Yay!
