Saints vs Colts – Super Bowl XLIV Ads
If you’re not a big fan of football, you know you still like to watch the Super Bowl for the comedic commercials and usually a pretty stellar half-time show. This year, Super Bowl XLIV is promising to produce a great game between the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints. It is also going to put up some great, and very expensive ads. Ranging from $2.5 million to $2.8 million per spot, the ad execs are putting up the big bucks 30 second spots.
Here is a look at this year’s Super Bowl XLIV ads:
Focus on the Family is providing the first anti-abortion spot, featuring college football star Tim Tebow and his mother, Pam. The commercial’s theme is “Celebrate Family, Celebrate Life.” This one is drawing a huge controversy.
Doritos ‘Crash The Super Bowl’ Contest
Doritos is putting up $5 million in prizes to lucky fans who create ads at home. The best ads will appear during the big game.
Home Away Online Vacation Rental Company
Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo are reprising their “National Lampoon’s Vacation” roles as Mr. and Mrs. Clark Griswold to promote this hot spot for vacation rentals…very funny!
E*Trade Is Going All Out With A New Baby In Town
Career Builder Super Bowl XLIV
This job seeking company did a contest as well. They found three winners, each won $100,000 and we will see all three during the big game.
GoDaddy.com Is Going With Danica
The bad news is, Danica Patrick is keeping all of her clothes on this year. I know, I know.
Hyundai is going with Brett Favre Accepting the Most Valuable Player Award
This one by Hyundai should be funny. You know that Brett Favre has his ‘funny’ moments in the locker room.
Coke is the only cola company this year, Pepsi is taking a break!
The company plans to give $500,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and will raise half of that money through a campaign tied to Coke’s Facebook page. Facebook users can send branded virtual gifts to their friends for free, and for each gift sent, Coke will donate $1 to the Boys & Girls Club. I love this idea! Now go give some virtual gifts people!
Motorola and The Droid team up…
This should be another round of mysterious hype about the Droid, this time for the headset to go with it…eh…boring….
The Dockers Super Bowl “Men Without Pants” ad is a comment on modern masculinity, says Dockers. The pantsless men march through a field but are interrupted with the message “Calling all Men – it’s time to Wear the Pants.” This comical ad is about guys who no longer wear the pants around the house. “Our culture kind of celebrates that guy,” says Dockers marketing chief Jennifer Sey. “We’re encouraging men to not be that guy.” I am really looking forward to this one!

Bud Light House Of Cans
They are letting go of the big horses and building houses out of Bud Light cans this year. We will see plenty of Bud Light ads in Super Bowl XLIV, with 5 minutes worth of spots…that is a LOT, seriously.
Dodge Charger Ad
We are going to get a full minute of this sexy beast… there is even a rumored duel between the Charger and and Audi….
Bridgestone Tires is going to be some serious laughs with this guy. Who knew rubber could be so funny? Big glasses guy knows all about it!
Ed Begley and U.S. Census Bureau
This $2.5 million ad is being paid for by us, the taxpayers. Yeppers, all though cash so the U.S. Census Bureau can try to persuade to answer a 10 question survey during the census…um, lame. Do you really need a Super Bowl ad for THAT?
So there you have it. I as always will enjoy the Super Bowl ads. This is going to be a great game, so the ads aren’t crucial to the success of the show. Don’t forget The Who will be performing at halftime! By the way, who are you rooting for?
