Kiefer Sutherland is having elective surgery and so the show must stop shooting. 24 will remain on hold while Kiefer gets his ruptured cyst near one of his kidneys removed, People reports.

“We are temporarily suspending production of 24 while our friend and colleague Kiefer Sutherland undergoes a medical procedure,” the network says in a statement. “We hope to resume production shortly and do not anticipate any disruption in the broadcast of this season’s episodes.”

Kiefer’s rep says:

“While Kiefer Sutherland is frustrated to miss even one day of work, he and FOX decided together that it would be best to complete this minor elective procedure now as a precaution as opposed to six weeks from now when production wraps. He looks forward to returning to work (this) week.”

Whew!  I was worried!  Don’t let anything happen to my Kiefer or my 24!! Get well soon!

Leonardo DiCaprio is on the cover of the current issue of Esquire.  They’ve got him trying to channel a 1950s Rat Pack vibe, which is generally a safe bet if you want to portray cool.  But it just makes Leo look old.   And he sounds like he’s feeling old too, viewing his life in retrospective.  Check these interview highlights.

On his childhood:

I was the most insane child you can imagine, pretty intolerable to be around. High-octane energy all the time, never wanting to focus on schoolwork.

On getting older:

What you risk just to have thrills when you’re in your twenties is absurd. It’s all part of that process of doing things that are daring to be accepted by your peers — and it’s absolutely insane. You can enter a never-ending vapid hole trying to catch the next exciting moment without ever stopping to appreciate it. It can be a never-ending process of chasing something that isn’t there. I know it’s a cliché, but I’m happy to be alive. I went skydiving and my chutes didn’t open. Two of them.

On his early acting career:

Probably the only thing I knew with complete clarity was that I wanted to be an actor. But there was a lot of rejection early on, and so it never felt like, Hey, I’ve got something here. There was always an element of me that needed to prove something to myself. It’s something I don’t want to get rid of, because it’s what drives me. I’m never settled and I’m never satisfied.

Leo’s latest movie Inception, directed by Christopher Nolan, is due out this summer.

Lindsay Lohan will be auctioning off a night in Hollywood, out with the party queen to the highest bidder when she hosts the iRock4Haiti charity benefit at club Altitude 360 in London tomorrow night (February 16.)

The highest bidder will also receive first-class flights and a week in a luxurious hotel in Los Angeles.

Lindsay is also donating 100% of the proceeds from her 6126 brand’s silver Fame leggings to the Save the Children Foundation.

“It is truly horrible what has happened to the people and children in Haiti. I believe every company should do their part to help by donating what they can.”

This is very generous of Lilo and I commend her on doing something for others.  Well done girl.

Lauren Conrad has followed up the smashing success of her novel L.A. Candy with another apparent win.  Her second novel, Sweet Little Lies, is No. 1 on the New York Times Children’s Chapter Books bestseller list for the week of February 21.

I was only vaguely aware that Lauren had written one book, much less two.  I can’t imagine that these books are any good, but all it takes is sales to become a best seller.    And sales seems to be all she’s after.   What else would you expect from a girl who places Google ads (all for her own products, of course) on her own official website?

Pamela Anderson was out yesterday hocking her new perfume, Malibu, at the Sears in Del Amo Mall in Torrance, CA.   You know you’ve created a high quality fragrance when you are asked to promote it at the Del Amo Sears.

I should say fragrances, because there are actually two Malibus:

Malibu Day (Pink) is

“a fruity floral with notes of wild berries, mandarin, honeysuckle, white florals, ambered sandalwood, caramel, vanilla and  praline.”

Malibu Night (Blue) is

“an oriental with pomegranate, chocolate persimmon, greens, black orchid, lotus, champaca, vanilla violet, mahogany wood, patchouli and amber.”

Really?  I always thought Pammy would smell like a mix of suntan oil, soy cheese, and dirty feet.

Anyway, she looks surprisingly pretty here, don’t you think?  She’s mostly covered up, aside from her wonky looking right boob trying to escape out of her bodice, and her dress (which is not white for once!)  shows off her figure but it’s not trashy.  I wish I could say it wasn’t see-through, though.  Gotta flash test your garments BEFORE you leave the house, ladies…

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt hosted a party Pure Nightclub on Valentine’s Day weekend in Las Vegas.  It looks like Heidi was able to muster up the strength to fight through the pain and make her big, red carpet debut, post-surgery.

Two men suspected of robbing a street-corner Valentine’s Day gift stand in Los Angeles have died.  After leading police in a car chase, the suspects crashed into a parked car and were thrown from their vehicle.  Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

Neither of the men have been identified.

All I can say is that is so sad.  The women that were supposed to ‘receive’ those Valentine’s are only going to have broken hearts today. How morbid.
