Comedian Ricky Gervais did such a splendid job this past winter, The Golden Globes are having him host again. While the ceremony does not take place until January 2011, the unusually early announcement isn’t surprising as viewership was up 12% with his antics at the podium.

“As viewers discovered with our last awards telecast, Ricky’s surprising and unpredictable humor is a great fit for the Globes which will continue as a live event across the nation,” said Paul Telegdy, president of alternative at NBC. “He’s a true force of nature with a wicked sense of humor who always keeps everyone on their toes waiting for the unexpected.”

Let’s be honest, how much do you remember of any host from year to year – but Gervais got quite a memorable zing in when The Office star sipped a beer and said: “I like a drink as much as the next man… unless the next man is Mel Gibson.”

On being a diva:  “I don’t think I’m demanding! I think it’s okay to ask how you want your food cooked. People just dramatise everything.”

On her relationship with Simon Cowell:  “I’m very fiery and very passionate. We don’t argue, we debate.”

On Justin Timberlake and Taylor Lautner:  “[Justin's] very sexy… I was obsessed [with Taylor] for a while… [but] the press know I’m in a serious relationship.”

On stripping down:  “No weird sex books [like Madonna's] for me. I would never even do a bikini shoot. It’s too embarrassing.”

NCIS is the top rated show on television week after week and CBS has it’s hands full as four of the principal actors are banding together to negotiate their contracts. Stars Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette, Sean Murray and David McCallum all have deals that expired this year and the actors are working as a group to reap some of the rewards of working on the number one rated scripted show of the year.

Fortunately, there is plenty of time to iron out new deals. Though it’s unclear when a resolution will occur, it seems likely that new contracts will be in place – and Weatherly, Paulette, McCallum and Murray will be back where fans want them – by the time NCIS resumes production in July.

Losing Tony, Ducky, Abby and McGee would truly change the dynamic of the show.

CBS – pony up – they are due!

Sexy True Blood vampire Alexander Skarsgård is all about equal opportunity when it comes to on-screen sex scenes.  Male or female co-star, doesn’t matter to him.

“I’m not a prude at all.  I shot a very, very graphic scene two days ago with a man. I am from Sweden, and it’s different there. If it makes sense, I’ll just do it. And to me, so far, it’s made sense every single time I’ve got naked or made out on the show.”

Steve Carell is quitting The Office after next season.  This will be the seventh season and likely final one.  Can you imagine The Offica sans Michael Scott?  Um, I think NOT.

Carell told BBC Radio, he says, “My contract runs through next season.”

And revealed that another season isn’t in the works, “I don’t think so. That will probably be my last year.”

Well all I have to say is good grief.  All of my favorite shows ate dropping like flies. Booo.
