James Cameron is planning to make Avatar 2 and 3! Which will undoubtedly make the trilogy the biggest in movie history.
Now he tells the LA Times, “Part of my focus in the second film is in creating a different environment—a different setting within Pandora. And I’m going to be focusing on the ocean on Pandora, which will be equally rich and diverse and crazy and imaginative, but it just won’t be a rain forest. I’m not saying we won’t see what we’ve already seen; we’ll see more of that as well.”
Cameron says it’s no easy task creating Pandora, but now that they have the materials from the first film, it’ll take faster to complete this time around.
“We’re going to spend a lot of money building this world and all these digital characters and digital plants and trees and mountains and so on, and then once we’ve got it, we’ve got it. It’s not like it’s a practical set that when you build it, you have to tear it down and you’re left with a big pile of lumber out behind the studio. We have all that stuff so we can go again,” he explained…
…Cameron says the storyline in the second film will definitely have us wanting more. “We expand out across that system and incorporate more into the story—not necessarily in the second film, but more toward a third film,” he explains.
Sounds great, we already know Cameron is a genius with underwater movies (The Abyss) so part two is going to be awesome. I just wonder how long it will be before part two hits theaters, hopefully in the next three or four years.
