Taylor Swift Gives Big To Tennessee Flood Relief

Taylor Swift has made a large personal commitment to helping victims of the floods in Tennessee.   The singer pledged $500,000 during a telethon this week.   Taylor explains why she decided to get involved:

“It was the craziest thing that I’ve ever seen.  I was at my house in Hendersonville, we were staring out the window, thinking it didn’t seem like rain. It just seemed like something in a movie. It was really emotional for me because those are the streets I learned to drive on. People’s houses are just ruined. It was so heartbreaking to see that in my town, the place that I call home, and the place that I feel most safe. I just send my love to my friends and neighbors who got hit harder than I did.”

Other stars who have stepped forward to help include Keith Urban and Vince Gill.  In addition, several celebrities with ties to Nashville have announced plans to help raise funds, including Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Ke$ha, Dierks Bentley, Brad Paisley and Lady Antebellum.

It’s awesome to see these stars helping with relief efforts, especially since many of them lost so much in the flood themselves.  Lets continue to send good, dry thoughts to Nashville.

[...] We often celebrate when stars go bad!  We love to see stars do rebellious things!  Maybe, it’s a form of entertainment in itself — when a star is not filming or producing a show, we want to know what is happening to such a star on a daily basis.  It’s an obsession and a form of entertainment that we feed ourselves to compensate our boring lives.  Then there is a theme where stars go out and do good things for the world, but it seems that people tend to forget these larger than life deeds much faster than those rebellious ones.  Let add one more good deed onto the long list of great deeds that many stars have been contributing to our world, Taylor Swift has gave $500,000 in an effort to add strength to the relief funds for the floods in Tennessee.  Let not forget a good deed so easily this time shall we?  More.
