‘House M.D.’ Operates With Amber Tamblyn

House M.D. is getting a dose of Amber Tamblyn to spice up the show. The Joan of Arcadia star is weighing in for a few episodes while Olivia Wilde is off filming Cowboys & Aliens. Hugh Laurie’s Dr. Gregory House plucks Amber’s smarter-than-your-average med student gal and adds her to his diagnostic team.

Nice addition – will she end up being Chace’s (Jesse Spencer’s) new love interest?

Sela Ward Slides Into CSI: NY

The lovely Sela Ward is slipping into the role of investigator for the popular TV show CSI: NY. The veteran actress (still love her as Teddy in Sisters!) will take on the new challenge as Melina Kanakaredes has departed for other projects. Ward will partner with Gary Sinise’s Detective Mac Taylor starting season 7 episode 1, this fall.

I don’t happen to watch CSI: NY but I do love Ward. Her character, Stacey will always be a better match for House (Hugh Laurie) than Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein) could ever be. I really miss her on House, M.D.

“Kristi is thrilled that they will be getting married.  They haven’t set a date and no plans are in the works yet. But when Bret’s tour ends they will work out the details. “We got engaged two weeks ago.  It felt right, even though we don’t have the approval of our parents.”

When they were together to work out custody issues, they discovered the spark was back.  Levi says,

Levi Johnston Is A Deadbeat Dad

“I really thought we were over.  So when I went, I had no hope. I think we both just started talking — and then we took Tripp for a walk.”

Bristol seems really happy,

“When he left that night, we didn’t hug or kiss, but I was thinking how different it was. He texted me: ‘I miss you. I love you. I want to be with you again’ … I was in shock.”

Now all the happy couple has to worry about is Sarah’s reaction,

“It is intimidating and scary just to think about what her reaction is going to be. Hopefully she will jump on board,” Bristol says.

Deadliest Catch: Captain Phil Harris’ Final Episode

Deadliest Catch returned tonight to show the final hours of Captain Phil Harris, legendary skipper of the F/V Cornelia Marie and it was heartbreaking to witness. Even though we all knew the outcome, the journey there was difficult to watch. His last moments in the hospital bed, talking to his sons Jake and Josh Harris, were beautiful, heartfelt and poignant and Discovery has to be commended on an excellent job in not exploiting or over dramatizing the situation. They were allowed to develop organically and edited in a way that gave you the heart of the matter, not to shock or provoke you the viewer, and the emotions were so much more raw because of it. Watching Josh as Captain Harris grabbed his hand to tell him he was sorry for not being a good enough father was incredibly painful. Josh Harris certainly had so much to deal with and then to have his beloved father, “my hero, my best friend, my buddy” apologize, you could see his heart break as he tried to convince him otherwise.

Jake Harris struggled through this season as well and I think everyone who watched the show breathed a sigh of relief when he made that call to get himself into rehab. As hard as it was for Jake to not be there when his father finally passed away (and at the time, it appeared Captain Harris was doing better,) it was the right decision for Jake but we can imagine the guilt he will feel because he wasn’t there with his dad at the end. Both sons were able to have time with their father and each got to hear Phil’s words of encouragement (Phil said to Jake “I’m proud of you” and to Josh “I love you” – those are the last words the boys heard from their father.)

Captain Johnathan Hillstrand of the F/V Time Bandit was with Josh at the start of the episode to get Josh back on track after the huge fight Josh and Jake had at the hotel. Josh needed Captain Johnathan to vent to and then, for Johnathan to give him the no nonsense advice to let Jake go and for Josh to be there for his dad. Hillstrand recognized that Jake was too far into his addiction at that point and Josh needed to stay focused on his dad.

The follow up show, After The Catch - was a joyful celebration of Phil’s life and his unique sense of humor and was the perfect antidote to the mourning that the previous hour was filled with. Mike Rowe did a fantastic job moderating the table of salty sea dogs who told stories of the quirky Captain. The final New Orleans funeral march was so wonderful as the captains, deckhands, producers, cameramen and friends danced and celebrated Phil’s life was an astonishingly happy way to end.

The video clip above was from Monday night’s Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Captain Hillstrand and Josh Harris were guests to talk about Tuesday’s episode. It was a nice chance for the guys to talk about Phil with Leno and to promise to give up smoking.

What did you think of the way this was handled by Discovery? Was Captain Phil given the appropriate send off? Let’s hear your thoughts on the show.

Bridget Moynahan Covers Self Magazine

Bridget Moynahan has been no stranger to tabloid headlines thanks to a relationship with QB Tom Brady. While pregnant with their child, Brady began a new relationship with supermodel Gisele Bundchen and a media storm swirled around all three of them. Moynahan gave birth to a boy, John, now 3 years old, and has attempted to keep as low a profile as possible since then. The actress has two new projects to promote (Ramona and Beezus opening in theaters July 23rd and the TV show Blue Blood, on CBS in the fall,) and she is giving Self magazine a glimpse into her views on motherhood, healthy habits and taking the high road:

Motherhood is hard: “Being a mom, whether single or not, is not easy! Certain individuals and the press present motherhood as if it’s easy or painless, and that’s irresponsible,” Moynahan says, perhaps referring to Bundchen’s drug-free water birth. “Girls see pictures in magazines of mothers with fancy baby bags and think it looks glamorous, and that’s not necessarily the case. I’m not complaining about anything in my life – it’s fantastic. My son is so well adjusted. He has two parents who live in different homes, and that’s what he knows. Having a child didn’t hold me back from a career or a love life or traveling; it has enhanced my life.”

The high road is my road: “No matter what’s been thrown at me in the past couple of years, I try to find the positive. There are a thousand magazines that like the negative. It’s easy to bitch and to listen to your people bitch, so if someone going through a divorce asks me for advice, I say, ‘All the he said/she said stuff doesn’t matter. And your kid will pick up on that energy. Keep your kids the focus,’” she says. “When [my life] was in the news or when challenging things arose while trying to work things out with another person, my attitude was to take the high road. My drama isn’t different from anybody else’s, except people get to see it.”

Setting a healthy example for my son: “I’m in the same shape now I was prior to having a baby. I mean, there are little scars, battle wounds from giving birth, for sure, but I’m back to my fighting weight,” she says. “It was a combination of wanting to be strong, fit and healthy and enjoying the stress release. If you are physically well, it feeds your mental and emotional state, and your child senses it. My son eats whatever I’m eating, so it’s a sit-down dinner with protein and vegetables. I don’t want him to snack between meals, so I don’t. I do indulge sometimes. I’m a salty girl – potato chips or truffle fries and a martini. But for the most part, I live a very healthy life. I’m not going to sit and eat fried Twinkies!”

Moynahan seems to have found some measure of acceptance with the public aspect of her life and is trying to move forward in a positive manner. Get more from Moynahan at Self magazine.

Henry Ian Cusick Comes To ‘Law & Order: SVU’ This Fall

Mariska Hargitay could have a love interest? Sweet! It appears that Lost’s Henry Ian Cusick will be that man for at least two episodes on the upcoming season of Law & Order: SVU. Hargitay’s Detective Oliva Benson will meet Cusick’s Erik Weber when he comes to the rescue of someone else and sparks will fly.

Executive producer Neal Baer said he cast Ian because he is “a sharp, smart leader and very charismatic.”

“There might be some flirtation,” Baer continued. “Erik meets Olivia when he comes to someone’s aid. And then we’ll see how it goes. Olivia is devoted to her job and knows that comes first.”

Now that’s worth tuning in for.

Lost veterans due have a way of turning up on SVU – Naveen Andrews, Ian Somerhalder, Elizabeth Mitchell and Michael Emerson have all had guest spots on the popular police procedural.
