It’s official!  I am doing the happy dance because Aerosmith’s frontman, Steven Tyler has officially signed on as an American Idol 10 judge.  This is the main reason I will continue to watch Idol.  Thank you FOX!

Jennifer Lopez Goes Diva and American Idol Drops Her

Aerosmith’s Tom Hamilton told the New Jersey Star-Ledger,

“Steven is doing ‘American Idol.’ The ink is dry on that. So, we’ll have to work around his schedule for a new record.  Steven is someone who absolutely lives to be in front of an audience, and the people closest to him know how witty and entertaining he can be. I don’t know if ‘American Idol’ will be rock ‘n’ roll enough for him, but it is an opportunity for millions of people to see another side of Steven Tyler.”

This was the perfect way to start my day.  Idol can’t get here soon enough!  Now no more falling off the stage, Steven…. Joe!  Lay off!

Kim Kardashian must think her fans and followers have very short memories or very few powers of discernment.  Here’s the photo that she used for her Twitter background today.  She explained it thusly:

“New twitter background…its a sneak peak from an upcoming calendar shoot… it will be up only for one night!”

“Sneak peak (sic)”, huh?  “Upcoming”? As soon as I saw this photo I was sure I’d seen it before.  And I was right, or nearly so.   This pic is from Kim’s Quick Trim promo shoot from nearly a year ago.  I’m sorry, but I just have to call lame all over that.  There’s nothing wrong with using old material, but don’t try to pass it off as something new.  This is just a big fat FAIL.

Jennifer Aniston was so stunning at the Los Angeles movie premiere of ‘The Switch‘ at the ArcLight Cinemas.  Honestly, I haven’t ever seen her look better.  Girl was hot!  I am loving all that leg.  Jen really knows how to keep herself in tip top shape and it always pays off.

Betty White never stops!  Never.  This sweet little thing has two new projects going and they are both books.  Betty certainly doesn’t have the energy of an 88-year-old lady.

Her first book, Listen Up! will be about “her incredibly varied, decades-long career in Hollywood” and is set to release in next spring (2011.)

Then her second book, In The Zoo and I: Betty and Her Friends will release sometime in 2012.  In this one she’ll share photos and stories about residents of the Los Angeles Zoo.

OK, let me just get one thing off my chest first here.  James Franco is pretty cool.  He’s hot, he’s crazy smart, he’s a little creepy… and at the moment, he’s everywhere.  I’ve read so many interviews with him lately that I have honestly reached the point of James Franco over-saturation.  But before I go check myself into rehab, here’s one more:  James is on the cover of Esquire‘s September 2010 issue (another Fall Fashion Issue, by the way).

And of all the wacky things in the article, the most noteworthy is his opinion on Twilight.  Evidently he’s reading the book for a “project,” and here’s what he’s learned:

“It’s crazy how much sexual tension there is.  It just builds and builds. I mean it never stops. It’s sort of explosive by the end. Crazy. Like they’ll blow up with it. And of course, they don’t…Which is the point too, I guess.”

HELLO!  Talk about summing up a cultural phenomenon in a few short sentences.

It’s definitely fall fashion issue season!  New York Magazine chose Katie Holmes to cover their Fall Fashion 2010 Issue.  A dubious choice, given Katie’s rather…uneven fashion sense, but hey – when she hits it, she hits it.   Katie’s also got her own fashion line of “luxuriously made basics” now, Holmes & Yang.

The magazine talked with Katie about her fashion sense, daughter Suri, and her latest role, playing Jackie Kennedy in the upcoming miniseries, The Kennedys.

On how she got into designing: I started making clothes for Suri when she was born, designing dresses, and then having seamstresses sew them, because I don’t sew very well. As a child, I was always drawing clothes, and I’ve always loved fabrics, and when Suri was born, I wanted to have certain things be from me and created just by me for her. And so that kind of got me into it, and then one day, Jeanne and I were getting ready for something and we thought, men have such beautiful tailored shirts, they have such a uniform, and we thought it would be nice to make things that are simple that you can have forever.

On learning to appreciate couture: I always loved clothes growing up. My mother had a drapery business. And now, part of being in this business is that you’re around really nice clothes. You do these photo shoots, you get exposed to Hermès and Chloé and Armani, and you start to feel the difference.

On playing former first lady Jackie Kennedy: I’m just focused on creating a character as much as possible without knowing what was going on behind closed doors. In my own life, it’s just something that’s there. We luckily have security so I can focus on motherhood and work and other things.
