Not much by the way of good new Blu-rays this week. No big movies worth mentioning, but Dexter: The Complete Seasons 1 – 4 is out and is constantly recommended to me, I’ll have to check it out.

Talk about cashing in on an opportunity!  The JetBlue flight attendant who lost his cool and bolted out the escape hatch, Steven Slater is getting a whole lot of publicity these days.

He went from jail to stardom. Stone Entertainment has offered Slater a job hosting a show in which various disgruntled workers quit their jobs in extravagant ways.  And now he has even hired Howard Bragman as his PR rep.  The guy can handle all this press!

Bragman made this statement,

“I can officially confirm that I am now representing Steven Slater. While my work will include media relations, my team at Fifteen Minutes and I will also be helping him sort out the scores of offers that have come through in the past week from media, producers, brands and other interested parties. I very much believe that Steven touched a nerve with the American people and am proud to be helping him tell his story at the appropriate time in the appropriate way.”

Okay, so I admit it.  I’d watch that show.  Not for Slater, but for how funny the quitting will be.  I love it.  We can live vicariously through these people quitting their jobs.  I love it!

Everyone wants to to know if George Clooney put a a ring on it.  On his gorgeous girlfriend, Elisabetta Canalis‘ ring finger that is.  This ultra sexy couple has been together since last year.  they seem really happy and content.  So…. is George going to tie the knot?

Well his rep isn’t spilling the beans on that one.  He’s just diverting the whole scenario by saying,

“It’s a napkin ring.”

Okay… but….. why is it on that finger?  Elisabetta wore a huge ring in Italy this weekend on her ring finger.  If you don’t want that kind of buzz, why else would you put it out there like that?

Lindsay Lohan didn’t have to serve the majority of her jail sentence and now it looks like she won’t be serving most of her rehab sentence either.  No, this one’s not for overcrowding.  It seems that Lohan isn’t as “sick” as the doctors once thought.

She isn’t bipolar and her drug dependence isn’t that bad.  Hmmmm, so she just makes really dumb choices and needs to mature, maybe?  That does make sense.  I don’t belive that you have to be an addict of have a disease to be in LiLo’s boat.  There are plenty of people out there who just make dumb choices… on a daily basis.  Being self-centered and oblivious can do that to you.

Anyhow, the doctors just need to finish writing up their final reports on Lindsay, then her lawyer will take it to the judge and get the approval for her early release.  She would then continue receiving care, just on an outpatient basis.

I really hope this has a good outcome.  I think that Lindsay is capable of straightening out her life.  It’s just a matter of will.  Does she want to change?

Jersey Shore’s Snooki has a new guy in her life and that simply means more drama for the show.  Which if you are MTV, you’re pumped.  In fact, you are fist pumping.  OMG.  Did I just say that?

Snooki’s ex, Emilio Masella is sure to cause at least a scene or two thanks to Jeff Miranda.  Snooki got her claws into Jeff at a club in NJ and they have been inseparable ever since.

Jeff isn’t doing this for the fame or a role on the show, in fact the whole idea of that pisses him off,

“If they offered me to be on the show over [dating] Nicole, I’d say no.  I said, ‘F— the cameras, let’s run away.’ I want people to stop hating. It’s not about fame, it’s about me being happy.  I just want to be with one person.  I hope she doesn’t listen to this crap and go with what her heart tells her. I’m not an a——. I’m really not.”

Jeff seems pretty into her, legitimately too,

“We just hit off.  I’ve always thought she was beautiful … [But] she’s also a sweetheart. She’s affectionate like I am. We have a lot in common. We both don’t care what people think of us. If we’re happy, that’s all that matters.”

All I know is he better like a lot of drama, fights, and chaos… cause that’s just what he’s going to get with Snooki.

It’s another big role for Angelina Jolie.  The Salt star is all set to play the part of Marilyn Monroe in an upcoming film based on the book, The Life and Opinions of Maf the Dog by Andrew O’Hagan.

CONFIRMED – Angelina Jolie Will Play Cleopatra

The London Telegraph reports that George Clooney will play Frank Sinatra who gave Marilyn a Maltese terrier (Maf) and the movie will be centered on the last two years of Monroe’s life through the eyes of Maf.

Courteney Cox appears on the cover of the latest issue of Emmy (Issue #4, 2010), which is rather ironic:  she was the only one of the Friends ensemble cast who was never nominated for an Emmy Award.   She talks about that disappointment and more in an interview for the magazine.

On missing out on those Emmy nominations: “My ego got really bruised. When everyone did but me, that doesn’t feel good at all…There were certain years I thought, ‘Maybe I have a shot,’ like the Monica-Chandler years. But I don’t know how it happens and why… maybe I wasn’t ready.”

On getting older: “…aging is nobody’s friend…One second ago I was the youngest person on the set, and now I’m the oldest,” she said. “I’m so old, my joints hurt when I keep my legs crossed a certain way for too long. I need glasses to see a movie, to see the computer and to read a book. I was like really?”

On lacking self-confidence when she was younger: “I always talked myself out of going in to read. I don’t know if I had that much confidence…I was always thinking that I needed to do something else, be more mysterious… [Today] I’m much more content.”

COURTENEY COX IS ON IN STYLE

Catch Courteney in the season premiere of Cougar Town on September 22 on ABC.  Maybe this will be her season to catch that Emmy nod!

If I didn’t know better, I’d say that MTV is paying the cast of  Jersey Shore a little extra to cause as much drama off the cameras as they do on.  Honestly, why else would they keep doing stupid things to get themselves arrested left and right?

The latest “bust” was on Ronnie Ortiz-Magro for a bunch of unpaid parking tickets.  Really?  Ronnie was arrested in Seaside Heights, N.J., today (Aug 15.)

The police dept released this statement:

“On August 15, 2010 Ronald Ortiz was placed under arrest for outstanding warrants from two separate jurisdictions … Mr. Ortiz was transported to the Seaside Heights Police Department where he was processed and later released after satisfying the conditions of these warrants.”
