Singing sensation Susan Boyle has millions of dollars in the bank. She should be living the high life, don’t you think? However, her brother Gerry Boyle has raised concerns about her management team, whom he says are forcing her to live far more frugally than she rightfully should.
His allegations: Susan is only allowed to have $477/week. She is not allowed to have a credit card. They arranged for her to purchase a new home, but she could not move in because she didn’t have access to enough money to buy furniture. He said:
“So she’s still stuck in the small council house where we all grew up. She should be able to walk into a bank anywhere and say she wants £50,000 cash. That may not be advisable, but it would be HER choice because it’s HER money.
“Susan is baffled about money. All she wants to do is sing. So we asked the questions that should have been asked a while ago. WHY doesn’t she even have a credit card? WHY does she feel she doesn’t have control over her finances? …She shouldn’t be worried about money when she has millions in the bank.”
Gerry is also worried that her perceived financial distress is taking its toll on his sister:
“She looks very distraught at the moment. Susan doesn’t look as if she’s a successful international chart star. She’s lonely and downtrodden. And she’s got this paranoia that she’s going to go back to square one, back to where she was before Britain’s Got Talent.”
When questioned about these issues, Susan’s management said that they are working on furnishing her house. They also confirmed the amount of her allowance, but “said she could have more at any time if she wanted.”
Wow. Poor Susan. I can see having a financial advisor to help you manage your money – after all, most of us would not have a clue how to deal with sudden millions. But these folks sound like control freaks. And I wonder how much money each of the people on her management staff are paying themselves?
