Steven Spielberg is bringing Falling Skies to TNT starring Noah Wyle from E.R.

From the preview, it could simply be described as The Walking Dead with Aliens. I do hope there is a more substantial difference than that when it finally airs in June 2011. Here is the official synopsis:

In FALLING SKIES, Wyle stars as a former college professor who becomes the leader of a group of soldiers and civilians struggling against an occupying alien force. [Moon] Bloodgood co-stars as Anne Glass, a therapist who works with the surviving children to help them cope with the traumatic situation. The series also stars Drew Roy (Lincoln Heights) as Hal and Maxim Knight (Brothers & Sisters) as Matt, Tom’s two sons; and Seychelle Gabriel (Weeds) as Lourdes, an orphaned teenager who helps run the group’s commissary. Will Patton (Armageddon, TNT’s Into the West) plays a fierce leader of the resistance.

It has a very similiar feel to AMC’s Dead, don’t you think?

Queen Latifah is royalty in her own right. The 40 year-old star is a woman who has made a successful enterprise out of virtually everything she touches. Best-selling author, Oscar nomination, award winning rapper are just a few things she’s turned to gold.

Latifah, who rules her own Queendom, has some advice for another future Queen – Kate Middleton. She tells Parade magazine Kate should enjoy her time now because her privacy is about to disappear:

“Make sure you have a sanctuary, because everybody in the world is going to be in your business. He happened to be born a prince; you happened to go to college and meet him. You’re two kids who fell in love. I just hope you have a happy life. And don’t take anything personally.”

A bitter divorce from her fourth husband Peter Cook in 2008 has left Christie Brinkley wary of romance. The model is content with her life as it is and isn’t rushing into another relationship. Brinkley tells Prevention magazine:

“Most of the time I’ve got my kids with me, so I’m not as prone to meeting people,” the 56-year-old beauty tells Prevention magazine. “And then, you never really know if someone is talking to you because you’re a celebrity. It’s not my number one priority.”

For now, Brinkley says she is focued on her three children: Alexa Ray, 25, from her marriage to Billy Joel, and Jack, 15 and Sailor, 12 from the Cook union.

Waiting for a baby to arrive can feel like the longest of days to expecting parents.

Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom have hunkered down in Los Angeles to await the littlest Bloom making his/her appearance. Kerr’s parents have flown in from Australia to be with their daughter and son-in-law as Kerr’s due date is only a few weeks away.

Kerr’s pre-pregnancy figure is gracing a few January 2011 covers either in anticipation of how fast celebrities lose their pregnancy/baby weight or just because magazine editor recycle more often than not.

Kim Kardashian is working on a music video and the super sexy star posted a couple of photos to twitter of her video vixen looks.

Kardashian has cornrow braids in one and she tweeted: “Rockin’ my Bo Derek braids” in reference to the style Derek made famous in the movie 10.

The second shot Kim K. set up is a bit Rihanna-esque with the mirrored shades and bangs. Kardashian is working with Kanye West and Hype Williams for the video shoot so it should be a great vid.

Natalie Portman is happily pregnant and engaged to professional ballet dancer Benjamin Millepied. Her choreographer from Black Swan, Millepied won her heart while working closely with the actress as she trained intensely for the movie.

Portman, who is on one of two covers for EW’s Oscar race issue, explains the draw of a ballet film for viewers:

“Everyone was so worried about who was going to want to see this movie,” she told the magazine. “I remember them being like, ‘How do you get guys to a ballet movie? How do you get girls to a thriller?’ And the answer is a lesbian scene. Everyone wants to see that.”

It’s true. There is no doubt that was instrumental in getting lots of people to check it out. Although the Darren Aronofsky film is a psychological thriller, it was ultimately about dance and would be a tough sell to get viewers into the theaters.

Sebastian Bach and his wife Maria Bierk have decided to end their marriage.

The pair, married in 1992, have been separated since April of 2010 and tried to work things out, but it wasn’t meant to be.

The 42 year-old Skid Row frontman says:

“We have tried to work things out for the sake of our family but it has become apparent that our differences at this point are irreconcilable.”

Bach says simply, “In 2011 we go our separate ways.”

The couple have three children Paris, 21, London, 14 and Sebastiana, 3.

Nina Dobrev lounges on a bed of roses for Canada’s Flare magazine. The Vampire Diaries actress is lovely in a sparkly L’Wren Scott gown for the February 2011 issue.

In TVD, Dobrev’s character Elena (she also plays the evil vamp Katherine) kept a journal in the first season. That has since left the show in season two so Nina was asked if she would like to peep anyone’s diary?

“I would never actually read anyone’s diary, but I would be fascinated to step into Rachel McAdams’s shoes. We’re both from Ontario and studied in Toronto so I’d be interested to know what her process, achievements, and hardships have been throughout the years. She’s a great talent who holds her own opposite names such as Robert Downey Jr., Diane Keaton, Eric Bana, and Harrison Ford.”

The 22 year-old actress will star opposite Kellan Lutz and Samuel L Jackson in The Killing Games, due in 2011. The Vampire Diaries returns with new episodes January 27th.

Jenny McCarthy will probably be happy to help usher 2010 out the door tonight.

The comedienne has seen her long-term  relationship with Jim Carrey come to and end in April and earlier this month, the spark she had with boyfriend Jason Toohey fizzled.

Now she has the opportunity to start 2011 off with a new romantic interest. Entertainment-sports attorney Paul Kreplka has caught her eye.

Everything is in the early stages and the two are just casually dating, according to a friend but it’s a nice way to start off a new year.

Leighton Meester nabs Seventeen magazine’s cover for February 2011 and the actress is sure about what she wants for her future. The Country Strong actress tells the mag it’s all about love and family:

“”I think that the importance of love is really strong for me in my life, whether it’s a guy or a friend or just my puppy. I think love changes you over time. Whether you have good or bad experiences, you always grow and learn from it. I want a family someday and I know that I have to let love in to create that and I think there is someone out there for me, but I’m not on some crazy hunt for that right now.”

Meester, who plays spoiled rich girl Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl, also tells Seventeen she doesn’t really like to party and is taking her time making her debut album.

Her February issue is on sale January 4th.
