Jon Favreau Will Not Direct ‘Iron Man 3′

Jon Favreau has confirmed that he will no longer be directing the upcoming Iron Man 3 since he’ll be busy doing Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Here is his tweet:

Insiders close to Marvel and Robert Downey Jr, who has director approval onIron Man 3, confirm that Jon Favreau won’t direct this next installment of the franchise.

It’s unfortunate, he did such a great job on the first two, it’ll be hard for somebody else to pick up where he left off. But I’m looking forward to what else he has in store. At least he’s moving on to something else, and I’m sure it’ll be good. He’s got one of those reputations as a director for making great movies, which isn’t too common in modern Hollywood.

‘The Smurfs’ First Poster Has Quite a View

Here’s the first poster for the upcoming live action animation combo The Smurfs.

If this movie manages to have some good humor for adults as well as the kids I’ll be interested in seeing it. It’s unfortunate that movies like Alvin and the Chipmunks and Yogi Bear are solely for the kids, they’re missing out on the adult market, adults who used to love all these characters as kids. Here’s hoping The Smurfs goes the route of The Muppets, and has some laughs for the big kids too.

New ‘Rango’ Trailer with Johny Depp Looks Great!

Here’s the brand new full trailer for the upcoming animated film Rango starring the voice of Johnny Depp.

The previous trailers weren’t nearly this good, I’m actually interested in seeing this one now. The animation looks amazing, technology is really getting intense for visuals. The story looks like it’ll be pretty good here too, hopefully Depp and Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean) made magic again together.

Rachel McAdams Grabs The Cover of Poland’s InStyle

Morning Glory star Rachel McAdams lands on the cover of Poland’s InStyle magazine. The January 2011 cover is fresh and bright to start the new year and McAdams is beautiful as ever. It’s very Valentine’s Day-ish, don’t you think?

Anna Paquin Dazed & Confused For The New Year

True Blood star Anna Paquin kicks off 2011 as the cover of Dazed & Confused for the January issue.

There is something about this photo of her that is well, wrong. Paquin looks mighty surprised or something for this shot. I know she’s smiling but it almost seems forced. I can’t put my finger on it, but I don’t care for it at all. I like Paquin a lot and think she’s beautiful, just something about this cover is off…

Is it just me?

Lunch For Prince William, Kate Middleton & The Queen

The engagement of Kate Middleton and Prince William has lots of perks, including getting invited to The Queen’s pre-Christmas luncheon. Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall were there along with Prince Harry and most other members of The Royal Family, including all of The Queen and Prince Phillip’s children.

What must have been a fairly nerve-wracking event for her, Middleton didn’t let it show (good girl!) and she left very happy and relaxed.

“When she left, Kate was looking supremely happy. She was smiling broadly,” an observer says.
“She was beaming,” adds another source watching at the palace gates.

Prince William and Kate, along with Prince Harry were driven away after two-and-a-half hours in the back of an official SUV.

New Dynamic Duo: Ian Somerhalder & Don Cheadle Are Global Conservation Spokesmen

Having Don Cheadle and Ian Somerhalder on the same bill for anything is great news. Having both dashing, good looking men fighting for the environment is even better.

Cheadle and Somerhalder are spokesmen for the newly formed Alliance for Global Conservation: a joint effort between PEW Charitable Trusts, Conservation International, The Nature Conservancy, Wildlife Conservation Society and World Wildlife Fund. The Alliance mission is “dedicated to protecting life on earth” and “working to encourage the United States to take a leadership role in forging this global strategy before it’s too late.”

Somerhalder says: “I signed on to do a huge project, me and Don Cheadle as a spokesperson, and it’s quite arguably, in all humility, one of the most important philanthropic environmental projects ever undertaken,” Somerhalder tells Zap2it. “I’m so honored to have been included.”

Somerhalder is passionate about the environment and spent much of his time in the Gulf Coast this summer working with groups and animal shelters to help clean up after the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The Louisiana native kept fans aware of his efforts through twitter and shared much of his outrage over the situation with the internet community.

Somerhalder has finished a PSA (public service announcement) for the organization and says his hiatus from his hit TV show The Vampire Diaries will be less Hollywood and more philanthropic:

“I’m going to Central America after we wrap. We’re going to take note of the scope of what needs to be done, and then I’m going to fly back to Washington and testify in a congressional hearing as to what’s going on,” he explains.

The actor is so committed to making a change, he recently launched his own organization: The IS Foundation which helped raise $93,000 to go The St. Tammany Humane Society in Louisiana.

Looking forward to both of their efforts for the Alliance.
