Ryan Gosling Kicks Off GQ For January 2011
Ryan Gosling is the cover for GQ’s January 2011 issue.
The Blue Valentine actor has always been a little off-kilter in his career choices. After starting out on the Mickey Mouse Club with the likes of Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera, Gosling has chosen his own path with quirky indie films like Lars and the Real Girl and Half Nelson. Not that he hasn’t chosen some main steam material – The Notebook, in particular. It’s that he is completely behind the part, regardless of the box office demands. He chooses films that he can relate to for their soul.
It should come as no surprise that Gosling compares his love of Walt Disney World to the spirit behind Blue Velvet. Commercial and indie embraced by a common thread. Gosling tells GQ:
“I loved the idea that Walt Disney had this dream of a place and then made it a reality,” the actor, 30, says. “It’s the same way I felt when I saw ‘Blue Velvet.’ It’s so clearly one person’s singular dream. The fact that somebody believed in their idea so much to make it a reality … I want to be that kind of person.”
Gosling is one of a kind and still seems charmed by the ideals in life.
His latest, Blue Valentine will hit (limited) theaters on December 31st and go to more screens in January 2011.
