Florida School Board Held Hostage By Gunman: Warning Video

A Florida man calmly walks into a school board meeting taking the members hostage and after a shoot out with a security guard, he takes his own life.

Clay Davis, 56, walks up to the podium as if to address the board but instead has a spray paint can and draws a large circle with a ‘V’ on the wall, the symbol from the movie V For Vendetta. As the stunned people watch, he pulls a gun and orders the crowd to leave “except these clowns right here” motioning to the board members behind the table.

Davis begins arguing with the board, saying they “fired his wife.” The panel is confused who his wife is and try to engage him in discussion. Davis opens fire on member Bill Husfelt, but fortunately missed.

Ginger Littleton, another board member came up behind Davis and struck him with her purse and fell to the ground. Davis turns on Littleton and aims but does not shoot.

The stand off ends as a security guards enters and shoots Davis hitting him at least once, before Davis turns the gun on himself.

“It could have been a monumental tragedy,” said school superintendent Bill Husfelt.

Davis has a history of violence and in January of 2000 he was incarcerated for aggravated stalking, shooting or throwing a missile into a building or vehicle and obstructing justice.

January Jones Strips For Versace!

Mad Men‘s January Jones is quite nearly naked in a new ad for Versace’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection.  Not much here but a tall blonde, a handbag, and a pair of stilettos.  But what more do you need, really?

January was picked as the new face of the brand by Donatella Versace herself, who said:

‘I am always on the lookout for the next Versace blonde, and in January I feel I have found a perfect Versace woman for the 21st century.  She is chic and elegant but deeply sensual too.’

The ads were shot by Mario Testino, who just did an amazing job with Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s engagement photos.  You gotta love a guy who can even make Wills look good!

‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ Trailer Premiers

Here’s the first trailer for the upcoming sequel Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides starring Johnny Depp.

I’m completely underwhelmed by this trailer, it didn’t even get a single laugh out of me. The comedy from the first film has clearly been lost. It’s visually appealing, yet very basic in it’s presentation. This just doesn’t seem as big as the last three films in scope or talent. Maybe Johnny Should have said no to this one, what do you think?

Scarlett Johansson & Ryan Reynolds Are Over

Adding another celebrity couple to the ever-growing pile of busted relationships: Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds are splitting. The very down low duo have been living apart for a while and have decided it’s time to call an end to their marriage.

“After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we’ve decided to end our marriage.  We entered our relationship with love and it’s with love and kindness we leave it.  While privacy isn’t expected, it’s certainly appreciated.”

The two were married in Reynolds native Canada in September of 2008.
Johansson and Reynolds are at least parting on good terms. No word on who/when divorce papers will be filed.

Is December 2010 cursed? The last two days have been terrible with the number of break ups:
Elizabeth Hurley and husband Arum Nayar.
Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens.
Anna Friel and David Thewlis.
Michael C Hall and Jennifer Carpenter.

Stop it already!

Hugh Jackman Injured On ‘Oprah’s Ultimate Australian Adventure’

Oprah Winfrey is currently on the other side of the planet (enjoying summer weather by the way!) filming for her special Oprah’s Ultimate Australian Adventure. The TV talk show host will air four one-hour specials on all things Aussie early next year.

Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe and Steve Irwin’s family are all making their way to Sydney’s Oprah House (yep, that is the power of O – having the iconic Sydney Opera House renamed for her visit) for the taping of the special.

Also on deck is the all-sorts-of-awesome Hugh Jackman. The Wolverine star was attempting a grand entrance descending on a zip line to land on Oprah’s stage when something went awry and Jackman crashed into a lighting fixture. Oprah stopped filming to check out the chiseled man from Oz who was bleeding from the gash under his eye. Thankfully it wasn’t a serious injury.

After cleaning up and a bandage from the paramedics, our man Hugh was all right, he just took too long to pull the brake:

“That was so much fun – until the end,” he said. “I came down waving to everyone, looking over Sydney Harbour, saw my dad, the kids and you, went to pull the brake and then boing.”

Ah, Hugh. As the reporter in the video (check it below) says “That’s how much we love Oprah. We’ll take our most handsome, intelligent man and we’ll chuck him off the Opera House.”

It really is the power of Oprah! (Read the article)

Nick Wolfwood Quick Review: ‘Black Swan’

Black Swan is an intense and dramatic tale of a ballerina named Nina (Natalie Portman) obsessed with her craft and the events that make change her world forever.

This film grabs you in the first minute and doesn’t let go until the last frame flickers on the screen. This is one of those rare and beautiful films that will easily land itself amongst the best thrillers ever made.

Darren Aronofsky‘s scene direction maintains a level of intensity throughout that is both jarring and frightening at the same time. I felt like I was hanging on every word in nearly every scene. The camera moves almost like a dancer itself always keeping us close to the mind of Nina.

The performance by Natalie Portman was truly her best. There is a moment in the film that she literally gave me chills. All the actors in this piece did an exceptional job bringing this story to life with passion and believable anguish.

Without giving too much away about the story I can say it definitely fits into the man vs. himself paradigm (or herself respectively). It takes us on a journey that gives rise to self reflection and a level of empathy with even the most twisted of characters. The twists and turns are quite definitely thrilling, a word that is often over-used in this genre.

The visuals in this film are exquisite. It sticks to a very high contrast color dark blacks and white whites look throughout; constantly reminding us of good vs. evil, yin and yang and the struggle within. The visuals help tell the story, thats the way a great film is supposed to be.

This is my favorite Darren Aronofsky film so far, and has solidly placed itself in my list of favorite films ever! The best films make you feel something physical while you watch them, that’s what makes this film more than just a movie, it’s an incredible experience.

Direction – 10
Performances – 9
Story – 9
Visuals – 10
Overall- 9.5/10
