The fantastically fierce and fabulous Salma Hayek Pinault rules the cover of the Winter 2010/2011 issue of V Spain.   It’s an issue devoted to inspiring women, and Salma definitely fits the bill.  Photographed by Karl Lagerfeld, she wears a rather military-looking piece by Alexander McQueen in the cover shot.  ¡Magnífica!

TV Guide Cover Of Top Chef’s Padma & Tom

Top Chef All-Stars turns the heat up on Wednesday nights and the gorgeous host Padma Lakshmi and judge Tom Colicchio grabbed TV Guide’s cover out December 2nd.

The guide ran into a bit of hot water as it was accused by online blog PopEater of lightening Lakshmi’s skin tone for the cover. TV Guide denies this and the original story is removed from the website.

“If her skin appears lighter, it’s because we shot her in a brightly lit diner as part of the cover concept. We did our normal color correcting, which is standard for printing,” the magazine said.

The statement continued, “Padma’s skin tone is beautiful, and we did nothing to adjust it.”

Padma looks great as always, Tom is wonderful – I see nothing out of the ordinary on this cover. Her skin tone does not look lightened. Both Padma and Tom look slightly washed out as the lighting was a bit overzealous, but that is not uncommon on magazine covers.

What do you think?

Mila Kunis Nabs Nylon’s Cover

Mila Kunis grabs the cover for Nylon magazine’s December/January issue. The Black Swan talks about her infamous kissing scene with costar Natalie Portman was a little uneasy:

“Anytime you do any intimate scene on film, it’s going to be a little uncomfortable, whether it’s the same sex or the opposite sex. The truth of the matter is that we were friends before we started the film, so that made it a lot easier.”Mila added, “We didn’t really discuss it very much. We just kind of did it. It made sense for the character. It wasn’t put in for shock value. It wasn’t something that we needed to justify in our heads, as to why we were doing it. That was it.”

Black Swan opened in theaters Friday December 3rd.

A brisk chilly day in London sends singer Kylie Minogue outside in a sporty black and white turtleneck with red tipped sleeves and black thigh high boots. It’s a great casual and fashionable outfit even if she’s just heading to her car.

What can I say, I love how Kylie always manages to look chic no matter what.

The singer was just in New York City on December 1st and performed “Santa Baby” at the Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony and she is taking part in the Jingle Bell Ball in London today, December 4th.

David Beckham Tries For Invite To Prince William & Kate’s Wedding

Prince William’s marriage to Kate Middleton is certainly a sought after social event and even David Beckham is trying to get invited. The soccer star was in Zurich this week with the Prince and British Prime Minister David Cameron to lobby FIFA for the 2018 World Cup to be awarded to London.

Beckham and the Prince have gotten to know each other through the years because William is president of the Football (soccer to Americans) Association and although David and his wife Victoria and their three boys Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz are living in California, he is proud to be British. Beckham said:

“I grew up in a family that was passionate about the royal family and a royal wedding will be fantastic for the whole country. I haven’t asked for an invitation yet, but maybe if we win the bid I will.”

Unfortunately Team Britain was unsuccessful at securing the Super Bowl of soccer for England but the Beckham family may just get that invitation anyway.

If A Celeb ‘Dies’ In The Twitterverse, Do They Make A Sound?

Kim Kardashian, Justin Timberlake, Usher and lots of other celebrities are not posting to their Twitter or Facebook accounts in support of Alicia KeysKeep A Child Alive drive to raise $1,000,000 in recognition of World AIDS Day on December 1st.

“It’s really important and super-cool to use mediums that we naturally are on,” Keys said. “It’s so important to shock you to the point of waking up. [...] It’s not that people don’t care or it’s not that people don’t want to do something, it’s that they never thought of it quite like that.”

The stars are staying digitally silent until the goal is reached but 3 days later and the total is nowhere near the million dollar mark. So what gives? Or more accurately what is preventing everyone from ponying up the cash?

I wonder if it’s simply that we are so over saturated by many celebs who use those pages as another kind of commercial to push yet another product, that as a group we are tuning them out (even if we are following them online.) Let’s be honest, twitter and Facebook can be like background noise – it’s there and you know it, you just don’t fully focus your attention on it.

Of course there is also the point that by making the stars give up their primary means of communication, you don’t have the 100 tweets and retweets a day reminding you to give up the cash.

I guess the thought was the silence would be deafening…? This could take a while.

Miranda Cosgrove Dishes On Growing Up & Branching Out

iCarly‘s Miranda Cosgrove has been enjoying the success of her debut album Sparks Fly since its release this past spring.  She’s busy at work preparing for her Dancing Crazy tour, which kicks off on January 24th in Kansas City.  What else is Miranda up to?  She spoke to the Contra Costa Times earlier this week.

On her rock aspirations: It would be really cool to be some kind of mixture of Mick Jagger, Steven Tyler and Stevie Nicks. Maybe, as I get older. …

On co-writing some of the songs on Sparks Fly: With “Kissin U,” I wrote about a guy I really liked, which was super scary. I had to really get my nerve up to tell him that it was about him. It was a little embarrassing, but he was flattered.

On getting ready for college: I’ve applied to five colleges, including USC, which is close to home, and NYU, which is across the country and would mean a whole new life. Right now, I’m trying to figure out a major and I’m kind of all over the place. For a long time, I thought it would be film. Now, maybe musical theater. I’ve even thought about psychology. I keep changing my mind.

Little Miranda really has come a long way since she played the annoying little sister in Drake and Josh. I find iCarly increasingly irritating these days, but I do think that she’s quite a talented performer and can’t wait to see how her career shapes up.  Read Miranda’s entire interview here.
