Singer Jason Mraz made the holidays extra merry and bright for his sweetheart singer Tristan Prettyman – he proposed to her!  And then, naturally, he Tweeted the result:

“SHE SAID YES”

Tristan posted her own thoughts on their engagement to her Twitter account:

Lindsay Lohan is catching a break.

Dawn Holland, the rehab technician who was employed at the Betty Ford Clinic where Lohan is finishing her court ordered counseling, is refusing to press charges against the actress for alleged assault.

Holland publicly accused Lohan of ripping a phone out of her hand so violently she had to be put on worker’s comp for a sprained wrist (see that story here.)

Holland, who complained to the police about the incident and then later gave an interview to TMZ about the situation has obtained attorney Keith Davidson who says his client has had a change of heart:

“Dawn will not continue to press charges against Lindsay, nor will she be assisting any further in the investigation or prosecution.”

And this is interesting … we asked Davidson how his client would respond if she’s subpoenaed, and he said, “She won’t.”

Holland is going to need that lawyer. Regardless of what happened with Lohan in rehab, the patient privacy laws are taken very seriously and by going to the press, Holland did herself no favors. I can’t imagine any medical facility hiring her now and she may have opened herself up for criminal and civil lawsuits.

Bristol Palin is the proud new owner of a 5 bedroom house in Maricopa, Arizona a suburb south of Phoenix. The native Alaskan is headed to a much warmer climate with her daughter from her relationship with Levi Johnston.

It is thought that the 20 year-old third place contestant from Dancing with the Stars may enroll at Arizona State University for a degree in broadcasting which is about 30 minutes away.

At 3,900 square feet with a 3-car garage, Palin picked up the house that was in foreclosure for $172,000. The state is home to her mother Sarah Palin’s former presidential running mate, Senator John McCain.

It’s time for Bristol to be on her own and good for her!

Mary Christine Brockhert, aka Teena Marie, was found dead in her home by her daughter, Alia Rose on Sunday, her manager reports.

The cause of death is still unknown but Teena had suffered a grand mal seizure just last month. Her manager says that the singer was looking forward to her upcoming performance in Atlanta this week. It would have been her first since the seizure.

Marie was a protege of Rick James and the 1984 song “Lovergirl” is her best known hit.

The R & B singer/songwriter was 54 years old.

Sharon Osbourne is known for having a sharp tongue, and it looks like her husband Ozzy Osbourne is taking his cues from her.  The Prince of Darkness had a few choice things to say about Lady Gaga recently:

“She’s getting to be too much. And she doesn’t watch the exposure of her clothes. She’s just too overexposed…When I turn on the TV, I see her wearing another lampshade or whatever. I think she’s really, really entertaining, but she’s doing a bit too much. Every day it is something else.

The specialness of her is gonna get killed if she doesn’t calm it down.  Someone should whisper in her ear and say back off for a couple of months – let people gain interest back.”

First off, I am completely surprised that Ozzy is lucid enough to take note of much of anything, much less a pop singer.  Then again, Gaga is kind of hard to miss.   The other thing that surprises me is that I 100% agree with him.  Gaga is getting a bit too precious for her own good.  Pretty soon there will be nothing more left for her to shock anyone with.  Then what will she do?

Taking on a legend with legions of fans is a daunting task for any actor or actress. Anne Hathaway is feeling the immense pressure as she prepares to star as Judy Garland in a long awaited bio pic of the legendary Wizard of Oz star.

Hathaway says that everyone involved is taking their time and working hard to “get it right,” but just how does she and the director portray someone like Garland, with her incredible voice?

“I certainly don’t sing like Judy Garland but the talk is to have me do the singing. But I think people might cry murder if they don’t get to hear Judy’s beloved voice so the talk is for me to sing but I don’t know if that’s exactly what will happen.

“It’s a very sensitive project and there have been so many stories told about her life that we’re really trying to get it right.”

It’s a tough call – have Anne sing or dub in Judy’s voice. Fans can be so extreme and it is a tough line to walk – pleasing the fans and telling a truthful story.

If Hathaway is a decent singer, I think she should be the one you ulitmately hear; after all it is a biography, not an autobiography.

The Playboy mansion had some engagement news for the holiday.

Hugh Hefner popped the question to his girlfriend Crystal Harris on Christmas eve. Hefner, 84, and Harris, 24, have been dating since Harris moved into the mansion in 2009.

Hefner tweeted: “This is the happiest Christmas weekend in memory. Yes, the ring I gave Crystal is an engagement ring,” the mogul wrote. “I didn’t mean to make a mystery out of it. A very merry Christmas to all.”

This will be Hefner’s third marriage and the first for Harris.

Congratulations to the happy couple.

DaMan magazine gives Garrett Hedlund the cover for the January 2011 issue. Hedlund is grabbing his brass ring this year with some major movies including Country Strong and the holiday blockbuster Tron: Legacy.

The 26 year-old actor spoke about his role in Tron, about the original 80′s Tron movie and his experience working with Legacy cast members Jeff Bridges, Olivia Wilde and Bruce Boxleitner:

On the original Tron movie: “I wasn’t born when Tron came out in the early 1980s, but I saw it for the first time in 2003. I thought it was something that was insane and an incredibly new idea, being stuck in a computer, and exploring that route of technology. Computers were hardly around then and it was such a new thing for everyone.
It was the wonders of the possibilities of the future that had everyone questioning things like this and the possibilities of lasers and if you could travel from one place to another. We have come to realize it’s not necessarily come to that, but Tron: Legacy offers another stop in that direction of wonders and technological possibilities and fantasies.”

Big Love star Ginnifer Goodwin is on the cover of Health‘s January/February 2011 issue and I guess that makes sense?  I dunno.   She looks like such a good, wholesome girl here, but way too skinny.  Which is not surprising, considering her confession that she’s been a member of Weight Watchers for years.  She’s also a vegan.  Now why, if you are a vegan, do you need Weight Watchers?  I have never known an overweight vegan.  What could you possibly eat to make you get fat?   But anyhow.  Maybe love is doing her some good!

The long awaited film The Avengers is set to start shooting in April 2011! The movie will star Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg, and Don Cheadle!

Variety reports that The Avengers is now scheduled to also shoot in New Mexico, making it the biggest film to ever film in the area. In announcing the news, Governor Bill Richardson called it “a Christmas present of sorts” to the state, as the production will likely create hundreds of jobs. New Mexico, thanks to its tax breaks, has been a hot spot for major productions in the last few years, recently playing host to Thor and Cowboys & Aliens. In addition to filming in New York and New Mexico, some of principle photography is also scheduled to take place in Michigan. The film will be directed by Joss Whedon and is planned to be in production from April until September.

Fanboys, you better start planning your costumes for the 2012 premier. This movie has been talked about and talked about for so many years it’s amazing that it’s finally coming to fruition. The cast is incredible and the anticipation will just continue growing. Hopefully Thor and Captain America are great movies in 2011 so The Avengers will have legs to stand on. It’s such a high concept movie it may be a hard pill to swallow for many. Expect a lot of hype at next year’s Comic-Con as the release draws closer. I’ll keep you posted on the happenings.
