Rihanna is the latest celebrity to jump into the fragrance business and Reb’l Fleur will hit store shelves soon.
The singer says the name of her scent is taken from a nickname given to her by her grandmother.
Speaking about the inspiration for the name Reb’l Fleur, she said to People magazine: ‘My grandmother in Barbados used to call me her Rebel Flower.’
The 22 year-old says she worked hard to make her foray into the sweet smelling beauty world unique because she spent years trying to create something special for herself by layering other scents.
‘Over the years, I layered many different scents to get something that was truly my own,’ she admitted.
‘But I wanted… something that said ‘Rihanna was here’.’
Reb’l Fleur will have undertones of vanilla, patchouli and amber along with subtle hints of fruits and florals from her native Barbados.
From the press release:
“I believe a woman should dare to be different — willing to live her life for herself and not for other people,” Rihanna said in the release. “This fragrance is about my passion for individuality — being expressive and empowering, yes, but also emotional and intriguing. I promise you Reb’l Fleur will not be easily forgotten.”
The fragrance goes on sale in early February just before Valentine’s Day and will retail for $49 (for 1.7 oz bottle) or $59 (for 3.4 oz.)
