Nick Lachey & Vanessa Minnillo To Guest On ‘Hawaii Five-0′

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo will head to CBS for a guest spot on Hawaii Five-O.

The real-life engaged couple will play a (wait for it…) fictional engaged couple. Minnillo’s character will work on a cruise ship that finds itself on the wrong end of maritime pirates.

The reboot of the classic TV show has been a standout hit for the Tiffany Network and stars Daniel Dae Kim, Alex O’Laughlin, Scott Caan and Grace Park.

Lachey and Minnillo’s episode is slated for February sweeps.

Like We Didn’t Already Know: Johnny Weir Comes Out Of The Closet

Olympic skater Johnny Weir has published a memoir, Welcome To My World, and in it he admits what we’ve all already known for some time:  he’s gay.

Yawn.  This is “news” to about the same extent that Ricky Martin coming out was “news.”   So why now?  Johnny says

he wanted to come out on his own terms, at a time when, in light of recent gay teen suicides, he thought his story could help others.

Now that is laudable.  Johnny’s book hits stores on January 11th.  If you can’t wait until then to get a peek, check out the excerpt that appears in the new issue of People.

Padma Lakshmi Is White Hot For Vogue India

Padma Lakshmi reclines in a crisp white dress for the cover of Vogue India’s January 2011 issue. Lakshmi is a stunningly beautiful woman and while she looks good on this cover, it’s fairly boring.

The Top Chef host spoke to the magazine about her body, what it was like for her when she was married to author Salman Rushdie and the birth of her daughter:

On her body, flaws and all: Padma Lakshmi clearly states that she has never looked or felt better than what she is today. She believes that what you lose in youth, you gain in sex appeal; what gravity takes away, you gain in wisdom. “My body is a blueprint of my life, of every tragedy — emotional or physical”. Whether it’s the stitches she got from a handsome doctor when she sliced herself while cutting a potato in Corsica, or the impossible-to-miss seven-inch-long scar on her arm, the result of a car accident in Malibu when she was 14. She wears it proudly now, a badge of survival.”

On people’s perception of her during her marriage to Rushdie: “I do think that as a beautiful woman, people don’t want you to be smart. The way I looked may have distracted people. So I had to negate the way I looked. But compared to what I gained, it was a microscopic struggle.”

On daughter Krishna Thea: “I wasn’t trying to get pregnant, I was told I couldn’t,” says Lakshmi, referring to her endometriosis, a cause she now campaigns for fervently. “It’s been such a profound experience. Words seem silly to use. I’m trying to think of something illuminating, but all I can say is that it is by miles the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I am amazed by this ability to produce life, to sustain it. I was so afraid I’d lose her, but she really wanted to be here.”

Follow Padma on her twitter and catch her on Bravo’s Top Chef All-Stars Wednesday nights at 10pm ET.

Rihanna Reb’l Fleur Fragrance Release Revealed For February

Rihanna is the latest celebrity to jump into the fragrance business and Reb’l Fleur will hit store shelves soon.

The singer says the name of her scent is taken from a nickname given to her by her grandmother.

Speaking about the inspiration for the name Reb’l Fleur, she said to People magazine: ‘My grandmother in Barbados used to call me her Rebel Flower.’

The 22 year-old says she worked hard to make her foray into the sweet smelling beauty world unique because she spent years trying to create something special for herself by layering other scents.

‘Over the years, I layered many different scents to get something that was truly my own,’ she admitted.

‘But I wanted… something that said ‘Rihanna was here’.’

Reb’l Fleur will have undertones of vanilla, patchouli and amber along with subtle hints of fruits and florals from her native Barbados.

From the press release:

“I believe a woman should dare to be different — willing to live her life for herself and not for other people,” Rihanna said in the release. “This fragrance is about my passion for individuality — being expressive and empowering, yes, but also emotional and intriguing. I promise you Reb’l Fleur will not be easily forgotten.”

The fragrance goes on sale in early February just before Valentine’s Day and will retail for $49 (for 1.7 oz bottle) or $59 (for 3.4 oz.)

Blake Lively Is The New Face Of Chanel

Blake Lively has landed a very sweet gig as the face of Chanel’s advertising.

The 23 year-old was rumored to have the job as far back as this past summer and fall when Lively spent a good deal of time in the front row at the Paris fashion shows and hanging out with the design crowd while Gossip Girl was filming in the City of Lights.

“Though I am the face of [the handbag], I will carry it like every girl,” Lively says. “I will always feel it’s more than just a purse. It’s a quilted case full of lipstick, love letters and the dreams and possibilities that I have always felt every time I see that beautiful ‘CC.’”

Lively and designer Karl Lagerfeld have shot the ad campaign for Chanel’s “Mademoiselle” handbag and the ads will appear in magazines starting in April.

The Green Lantern actress is the darling of American Vogue editor Anna Wintour and has made a fashionable and influential friend of Lagerfeld.

Elijah Wood Returning for ‘The Hobbit’?

There is speculation that Elijah Wood could make an appearance in the upcoming Lord of the Rings trilogy prequel The Hobbit.

I’ve learned that Warner Bros will, in fact, pay the entire cost of the two installments ofThe Hobbit, a price-tag that is expected to exceed $500 million. Now, the question will be which cast members from The Lord of the Rings come back for encores. I’ve heard talk of conversations with Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis and possibly Elijah Wood. I’d heard Orlando Bloom was also in talks before the holidays. Returning actors will need to be locked in shortly.

This is a strange possibility since Frodo couldn’t possibly appear until the very end of the second part of the movies. It’s possible, but my guess is he won’t be back, and if he is, he’d have to play an older relative of Frodo. In any case I don’t think he should, it’s just unnecessary. What do you think?

Eminem to Star in ‘Random Acts of Violence’

Eminem is finally returning to the big screen, nine years after 8 Mile with a new film called Random Acts of Violence.

The rapper plans to star in a crime thriller, Random Acts of Violence, for 20th Century Fox, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The project has been in development at Fox for more than four years, and the script reportedly has gone through multiple drafts, with the most recent version said to center on an ex-con just released from prison who is trying to stay on the right side of the law despite pressure from his former comrades. At the same time, the FBI is trying to recruit him to bring down the syndicate.

He’s been busy with his music, but he proved his acting skills in 8 Mile. This sounds like a perfect script for him, that’s probably why he took the part.
