Adam Dell has engaged the very private Padma Lakshmi in a public battle for their daughter Krishna Thea.

The Top Chef host has been hit with court papers from Dell, a venture capitalist and brother to computer guru Michael Dell, who is suing for full custody of their child. Dell and Lakshmi have had an out of court agreement due to expire on February 20, Krishna’s 1st birthday. In that arrangement, Dell was allowed 9 days with his daughter.

Dell is also reported to still be bitter about the baby’s name:

Sources tell us Adam is still furious over the name Padma chose for the baby.  We’re told two days after Krishna was born, Adam went to the hospital and launched into a 4-hour tirade over the name.

Lakshmi, who has never publicly confirmed the paternity of her child, is upset about the publicity this generates and wanted to handle the disagreement privately.

The former model and wife of author Salman Rushdie is currently involved with billionaire Theodore “Teddy” Forstmann.

Vanessa Hudgens has replaced Britney Spears as the face of Candie’s.  She kicks off their Spring 2011 campaign with ads that will begin running in March.   I thought Brit-Brit did a great job as the face of the brand, but it really looks like they’ve gone in a different direction with Vanessa.

Fashion photographer Tony Duran shot the campaign at the Pink Motel in Sun Valley, California.

Of her new gig, Vanessa said:

“It’s such an honor to be able to be a Candie’s girl now. It’s amazing, super cute and very reasonably priced.”

Lo Bosworth was in Bal Harbour, Florida this week promoting her new book The Lo-Down.   She has the ability to look so cute, but this was clearly not the case on this occasion.   Shapeless sweater?  Unbrushed hair?  Oh Lo.

The Lo-Down offers dating and relationship advice.  Lo told MTV News that writing the book seemed like a natural step:

“For me, on the show, I always found myself giving advice to my girlfriends and mostly advice about the men in all of our lives.  So writing a book about relationships was a natural next step for me. Writing the book and writing about my experience has been almost cathartic in a way, and it really feels like when you wake up with your girlfriends after a great night out and you talk about the night before and about all these guys. It’s really conversational. There’s good tips. It’s a fun read.”

Well, that’s sweet.  But how many books by reality show stars do we really need?

David Lee Roth and Van Halen have been doing the on-again, off-again thing for nearly 40 years (FORTY YEARS?!), and it looks like they’re going at it for at least one more round.  Whatever remaining bad blood there might be between Roth and Eddie Van Halen, they’ve apparently put it aside – they’re back in the studio together for the first time since 1996 – and working on a full album for the first time since 1984.

Producer John Shanks (who has also done albums for Miley Cyrus, Bon Jovi and Keith Urban, among others) recently Tweeted from the studio where he was working with the band.   Keep your eyes peeled for Van Halen’s new album this year – I’ll definitely be on the lookout for it.

Here’s the trailer for the upcoming period drama The Conspirator.

This trailer doesn’t excite or intrigue me very much, I guess I’m just more curious about Lincoln himself than the people who were and weren’t involved in his assassination. I’ll have to wait for Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln to come out with Daniel Day Lewis starring in the title role next year.

No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal and his wife, Erin Lokitz are brand new parents!

Lokitz gave birth on Monday to a baby girl, Coco Reese. The band’s website posted a very simple statement:

Tony + Erin = Coco

Welcome to the world our gorgeous daughter – Coco Reese Lakshmi Kanal. She entered our lives on January 24, 2011. Mom, Dad and Baby are happy and in love.

This is the first child for the couple.

Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem have welcomed their first child into the world.

Cruz gave birth on Tuesday in Los Angeles at Cedars Sinai Hospital according to Spanish news El Pais. Cruz and Bardem have a son, according to Hola magazine. The couple have not released an official statement and the name of the child is not yet known.

Cruz, 36 and Bardem, 41, have known each other for 19 years when Cruz had her first acting job on Jamon, Jamon. The pair started dating in 2007 when they were paired in the Woody Allen film Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

Leighton Meester is everywhere these days!  She makes a sassy and candid cover girl for Nylon’s February 2011 issue.  She talks about her role in Country Strong, and also gives this curious quote:

I like to be judged by my family and friends because they know me.  If they think I’m being an a*****e I’d like them to tell me, but if I’m fat or something I’m like, “Well, so?  OK?  Great!”  It doesn’t even matter; it’s like, “What if I am fat? Does it matter?”… I’m a grown woman and sometimes, I might be a little fat, you know!  Am I alone there?  Not really!

Yeeeaaahhh….. OK, Leighton, if you WERE actually fat, you would not be alone.  But since there’s probably not an ounce of fat on your entire 24 year old body, let’s not go there, shall we?

Miss Honor Marie Warren got a sweet treat this weekend – parents Jessica Alba and Cash Warren took her to Famous Cupcakes in Beverly Hills for some yummy goodness.  The pastries look awesome, but I’ve got to say that Honor was the cutest cupcake of all.    If only tiny little cupcakes could make us ALL so happy!

I know at age 19 she’s a legal adult and all, but something about Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham ‘s latest modeling gig just feels a little too much like child porn to me.  Farrah is featured in the Mastering The Art Of American Motorcycles 2011 calendar.  She poses with a “Wolf” motorcycle made by Big Dog, in a faux wolf fur outfit that she designed herself.   Um, slutty much?
