Lady Gaga Celebrates ‘Born This Way’ – Billboard’s 1,000th #1 Hit Song

The Billboard Hot 100 is one of THE standards for ranking pop music, and Lady Gaga appears on the cover of the latest issue of Billboard to help celebrate a big milestone for the music chart.  Gaga’s new single, ‘Born This Way,’ is the 1000th song to ever hit the #1 spot on the Hot 100.

Gaga was outfitted by her favorite stylist, Nicola Formichetti for the shoot by Marciano Vivanco.     She wears her signature heel-less platform shoes (this time by Noritaka Tatehana) and a shoe hat by Bob Recine.

Oh, and the first #1 song ever?  “Poor Little Fool” by Ricky Martin, which hit #1 on August 4, 1958.

‘Dead Island’ Game Trailer Goes Viral, Prompts Film Deal Feeding Frenzy!

The video game trailer for the upcoming video game Dead Island went viral yesterday leading to a feeding frenzy for the screen rights to turn the premise into a feature film!

There’s a stampede for screen rights that was prompted by a teaser trailer that sets a most touching context to a flesh-eating zombie premise. The teaser got 1 million hits in 24 hours. Lucky for producers Sean Daniels Company’s Daniels and Jason Brown and Union Entertainment’s Dmitri Johnson and Richard Leibowitz, they corralled the screen rights nearly a year ago. Studios and agencies are all over them, suggesting talent packages and story lines to try and make a screen deal. That will likely happen in the next week or so.  The film will will follow a Memento-like storyline, even though the video game does not.

I posted the trailer here yesterday because of how impressed I was with it, looks like I wasn’t the only one who was! I’m already looking forward to finding out what studio will get it and if they can get a big name cast. I’ll keep you posted on how this plays out in the coming weeks. If you didn’t see the trailer yet, check it out HERE!

First Two ‘Hoodwinked Too! Hood VS. Evil’ Posters

Here are the first two posters from the upcoming animated comedy sequel Hoodwinked Too! Hood VS. Evil.

Red Riding Hood is training in the group of Sister Hoods, when she and the Wolf are called to examine the sudden mysterious disappearance of Hansel and Gretel.

I didn’t see the first one but I hear it’s actually very funny. Of course the first one came out in 2005 so the animation is going to get a huge boost for this one. And of course (you guessed it) it will be in 3D. No surprise there.

New ‘Limitless’ Poster Has Bradley Cooper Cranked!

Here’s the new poster for the upcoming movie Limitless starring Bradley Cooper.

Bradley Cooper looks intense on this poster, he definitely looks like he’s on a powerful drug. I like the concept of this one, it seems to have a sci-fi thriller feel without looking futuristic. Robert De Niro is in the movie, so that’s also a big plus. Still, I not completely sold on this one.

Overwhelming New ‘Battle: Los Angeles’ Poster

Here’s the newest poster for the upcoming film Battle: Los Angeles.

This poster has a powerful effect, it reminds me of the man standing in front of the tank in Tiananmen square. Big imagery like this promises a big movie. Dare I say epic? Maybe not, but I can hope can’t I.

Seth Rogen Tries to Bring Comedy to Cancer With ’50/50′

Seth Rogen is set to star along side Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the upcoming drama/comedy 50/50.

The drama known in previous incarnations as I’m With Cancer and Live With It, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a young man coping with the illness and Seth Rogen as his best friend, has been retitled 50/50, and set for a September 30 release date according to The Wrap.

This one really does sound like a hard pill to swallow.  I think Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a very underrated actor, I think he’ll pull off this role quite well. I think of some of his scenes in 500 Days of Summer and I’m reminded of his ability to bring comedy into some sad subject matter. Seth Rogen seems less fit for the role, but I’m sure he’s capable. Being able to laugh in the face of adversity is so important, hopefully this movie will be a good reminder of that.

‘Something Borrowed’ Trailer With Kate Hudson

Here’s the trailer for the upcoming romantic comedy Something Borrowed starring Kate Hudson and John Krasinski.

This movie is clearly formulaic in about every way possible, as romantic comedies tend to be. I could make a list of about 1000 things I’d rather do than go see this movie, including getting an oil change or alphabetizing my Blu-ray collection. Although this movie is not for me, I see a lot of people wanting to watch it. There are some good actors here, so you’ll just have to let me know how you like it.

Hailee Steinfeld from ‘True Grit’ Gets ‘Forgotten’

The 14 year old Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld is set to play the lead role in the upcoming film Forgotten.

Paramount Pictures has just closed a deal for screen rights to Forgotten, a novel by Cat Patrick that will be published by Little Brown in June. The book will be crafted as a star vehicle for the 14-year old Steinfeld, with Fake Empire’s Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage producing…

…Steinfeld will play London Lane, a 16-year old whose memory is erased at 4:33 every night. The following morning, all she can remember are events from her future.

She was great in True Grit, definitely deserving of the nomination. I’m looking forward to seeing how she does in a story set in modern times instead of the old west. Forgotten has one of those story-lines that is pretty far out there, hopefully it can come together as a cohesive story.

Steve Carell Could Join Meryl Streep in ‘Great Hope Springs’

Steve Carell is in talks to join Meryl Streep in the upcoming film Great Hope Springs.

Steve Carell has begun negotiating to star with Meryl Streep in the David Frankel-directed Great Hope Springs, I’m told. Mandate Pictures is in talks with Carell to play Dr. Feld, a marriage therapist who tries to help a couple rekindle their loveless relationship after 31 years of marriage. Streep plays the wife and Frankel will soon set an actor to play her husband.

Meryl Streep and Steve Carell together in a movie seems almost strange. He’s about 90% comedy and she’s about 90% drama, maybe Carell is trying to step further into the world of dramatic acting? In any case, the movie doesn’t sound that exciting story-wise. Yet with actors like these my interest rises, we’ll have to wait and see what this one is like.

‘Insidious’ Trailer is Insidious

Here’s the trailer for the new haunted house movie Insidious.

Nothing about this trailer seems fresh to me, it seems completely rehashed. With predictability comes boredom and frustration, this movie looks like a whole lot of that. Perhaps I could be wrong, what do you think? Worth a watch?
