Colin Firth Wanted for ‘My Fair Lady’

Colin Firth is likely to play Henry Higgins in the upcoming remake of the musical My Fair Lady.

The My Fair Lady movie musical that’s been rumored for years now is back in the news again, with Carey Mulligan once again up for the Eliza Doolittle role…

…Colin Firth is back in the running to play the Professor in the project in the works at Sony.

He was considered for the role before, but he wasn’t famous enough at the time for Sony execs. Now after his nominations and likely Oscar win he seems to be the prime candidate for the role. I can’t think of another actor that would fit this character more, I hope he takes the part.

Justin Bieber’s Rolling Stone Abortion Quote Gets Edited (And Corrected) Online

Justin Bieber is the cover of Rolling Stone for the March 2011 issue, but he’s already drawing controversy.

Bieber was asked a number of questions that seemed a little odd to ask a 16 year-old pop star but the one that’s getting all the attention is his views on abortion.

The online version of the article quoted Bieber as saying:

“I really don’t believe in abortion,” Bieber says. “It’s like killing a baby?” How about in cases of rape? “Um. Well, I think that’s really sad, but everything happens for a reason. I guess I haven’t been in that position, so I wouldn’t be able to judge that.”

However the magazine now says part of his full answer was dropped from the web version, but will apparently appear in the March 3rd print edition. And it seems punctuation was changed as “killing a baby?” originally had the question mark. This is the full quote on the site now:

“I really don’t believe in abortion,” Bieber says. “It’s like killing a baby.” How about in cases of rape? “Um. Well, I think that’s really sad, but everything happens for a reason. I don’t know how that would be a reason. I guess I haven’t been in that position, so I wouldn’t be able to judge that.”

The writer, Vanessa Grigoiadis, spent time with the teenager without his handlers for the interview and thinks that his view is misunderstood. She tells Popeater:

“I think he meant that God has a plan. Even for the most die-hard Christian, it’s hard to justify rape as part of God’s plan, and harder to justify rape that leads to pregnancy and abortion. I think he was wrestling with that in his answer, which I found to be solid and logical. I think it is being widely misunderstood. He did not say that rape was part of God’s plan.”

Regardless of his point of view – do think the question was legitimate for the teen singer or do you think the writer was out of line?

“Lotus Flower” From Radiohead – SEE THE VIDEO

Thom Yorke and Radiohead slipped some new music fans way today.

The first single, “Lotus Flower” from the new album King of Limbs is a stark black and white video of Yorke and his dance  movements, which really suit the album title.

King of Limbs was set to release Saturday but the band have pushed it forward one day stating:  “With everything ready on their website, the band decided to bring forward the release by a day as there was no need to wait until the planned date of Saturday Feb 19 to deliver the music.”

The eight tracks on the eighth studio album include titles “Morning Mr. Magpie,” “Give Up The Ghost” and “Bloom.”

WATCH: Britney Spears “Hold It Against Me” Video

Britney Spears debuted her brand new video for “Hold It Against Me” in it’s entirety last night on MTV.

Spears has been teasing the world with small snippets on twitter of the visuals and the premiere was full of classic Britney – and a whole lot of shameless product placement, her perfumes, PlentyOfFish.com, Sony…

Brian Freedman, the video choreographer, told MTV: “She’s showing that you have to push it as an artist: that you can’t just settle, that you can’t be calm with your choreography, that you have to make a statement,” he told MTV. “There’s so many people out there competing in this world to be the queen of pop, and she’s definitely claiming her throne.”

Friedman added that Spears “pushed the envelope” further than any of her past videos, and the result is “a masterpiece.” Meanwhile, her manager Adam Leber called it “epic.”

Watch it below and sound off – what did you think of the video?

Fresh New ‘Thor’ Trailer

Here’s the latest trailer for the upcoming Marvel film Thor.

This trailer isn’t as good as the original longer one, but it’s certainly not bad. I’m looking forward to the movie, but it really doesn’t look like the same world as Iron Man even though it’s supposed to be.

First Look: Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Pinocchio’ (Images)

Finally we get our first look at the upcoming 3D stop-motion feature Pinocchio from Guillermo del Toro!

Guillermo del Toro, The Jim Henson Company and Pathe are ready to go on Pinocchio, a 3D stop motion animated adaptation of the Carlo Collodi fairy tale that will be edgier than the 1940 animated Disney classic. Gris Grimly will co-direct with Mark Gustafson, and production will begin later this year.  Grimly illustrated a 2002 book of Collodi’s tale that formed the basis for a project that is years in the making.

Disney‘s Pinocchio was my favorite movie when I was a little boy, so this darker re-imagining of this classic has me excited. I love the work of Guillermo del Toro so his involvement makes me that much happier that this project!

‘Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters’ Gets a Release Date

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters has been given the release date of March 2, 2012. The film will be shot in 3D.

The Tommy Wirkola-directed Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters at Paramount Pictures is now set for a March 2, 2012, release date…

…Hansel & Gretel 3D stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as the title characters who, 15 years after their narrow fairy tale escape from the gingerbread house, become specialized bounty-hunters looking to take down the witches that almost killed them. Famke Janssen will play the leader of the witches.

This is a brand new take on the old tale, one that sounds very promising. Renner and Arterton seem like a good pairing for this obviously more action based story.
