First Look: Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Noah’ (Video)

Darren Aronofsky wants his next big film to be the story of Noah from the Bible, if he can get it made! First it will be a graphic novel, much like he did with The Fountain. Here’s a look at the upcoming graphic novel:

When Darren Aronofsky was 13-years-old, he won a United Nations poetry competition at his Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn school for a poem about the end of the world as seen through the eyes of Noah. And so started Aronofsky’s obsession with the biblical figure. In September 2008 we talked to Aronofsky about his idea for a film based on Noah:

“It’s the end of the world and it’s the second most famous ship after the Titanic. So I’m not sure why any studio won’t want to make it,” said Aronofsky. “I think it’s really timely because it’s about environmental apocalypse which is the biggest theme, for me, right now for what’s going on on this planet. So I think it’s got these big, big themes that connect with us. Noah was the first environmentalist. He’s a really interesting character. Hopefully they’ll let me make it.”

The Fountain was Aronofsky‘s only film failure in my opinion, I’m really hoping Noah is on the quality level of Black Swan and Requiem for a Dream. That is, if it gets made at all.

New ‘Super 8′ Teaser Trailer From Spielberg and J.J. Abrams

Here’s the Super 8 teaser shown during Superbowl XVL from producer Steven Spielberg and director J.J. Abrams!

This one has been kept tightly under wraps, which is a little strange considering it’s June 10th, 2011 release date. It definitely has a bit of a Spielberg feel to it. This one should be good.

Sean Levy Directing ‘Fantastic Voyage’ Remake from James Cameron

The Fantastic Voyage is set to be remade in 3D  by director Sean Levy, with James Cameron producing.

20th Century Fox has set Shawn Levy to direct Fantastic Voyage, the James Cameron-produced 3D tent pole film. I’m told that Levy has boarded the re-imagining of the 1966 original about a team of scientists shrunk into a ship in an attempt to save a colleague’s life. Fox and Cameron have been moving cautiously on a big budget film that, from early in the script once they go inside the body, is almost exclusively CGI. The script is by Shane Salerno, with Laeta Kalogridis working on a polish.

This is a movie that is ripe for remaking, I always loved the original when I was a kid. Hopefully they don’t overdo the CGI as they portray the interior of the human body. Unfortunately Sean Levy is the guy responsible for the Night at the Museum movies. But at least James Cameron is there to make it better.
