Farrah Fawcett’s Iconic Red Swimsuit Goes To Washington

It was the poster that so many boys had up on their bedroom wall.

Farrah Fawcett and her red bathing suit image was sold to more than 12 million people in 1976 and made a lasting impression world wide with her bright white smile, that iconic feathered hair and the fact that you could see her nipples in her swimsuit. Scandalous back in the 70s!

It is so well known, the late Fawcett’s long time partner, Ryan O’Neal, has donated it to the Smithsonian Institution’s popular culture history collections.

“If you were to list 10 images that are evocative of American pop culture, Farrah Fawcett would be one of them,” Robert Thompson, a professor of television and popular culture at Syracuse University, once told The Times. “That poster became one of the defining images of the 1970s.”

O’Neal is donating other Fawcett items, including the actress’ scripts from Charlie’s Angels, dolls and puzzles.

Fawcett died June 25, 2009 at the age of 62 of cancer.

‘Dallas’ & The Ewings Are Coming Back To TV

Charlie’s Angels, Wonder Woman and now Dallas could be headed to primetime television for fall 2011.

The Ewing family drama of the 80s is the latest classic show headed for a younger generation with a new cast and new problems for the family of Southfork Ranch. Jordana Brewster of The Fast and The Furious and Josh Henderson of Desperate Housewives are set to take on the 10 gallon hats of J.R. (Larry Hagman) and Bobby (Patrick Duffy) Ewing.

Including J.R. and Bobby being brought back for the latest incarnation, Sue Ellen (Linda Gray) and Jenna Krebbs (Priscilla Presley) are returning to the the family struggles for the Texas oil family business. Other characters not known if they are returning: Lucy Ewing (Charlene Tilton) Cliff Barnes (Ken Kercheval) Steve Krebbs (Steve Kanaly) or Pam Ewing (Victoria Principal).

Nothing could beat the ‘Who Shot J.R.’ drama or killing off popular character Bobby only to have him brought back the following season by having Pam wake up and declaring everything shown the previous year was a bad dream.

Will this version have that same kind of crazy drama that is talked about years later?

Halle Berry & Gabriel Aubry Custody Battle Turning Extremely Ugly

Custody battles are rarely pleasant or easy but add two high profile celebrities in the mix and the drama tends to get very ugly very fast.

Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry are locked in a legal (and publicity) war over which parent is worse for their daughter, 2 1/2 year-old Nahla.

Berry’s friends are reporting on Aubry’s alleged rotten behavior, including hurling the N-word at the star:

Aubry’s former friend and business partner Stephane Bibeau claims the model became ‘verbally threatening’ to Berry after they separated.

Bibeau also accused the model of using a racial slur against the actress, according to the latest issue of America’s People magazine.

The respected publication reports several other sources close to Berry, 44, also supported Bibeau’s accusation.

‘He is a vindictive guy,’  Bibeau said.

Aubry’s friends are coming to his defense and painting Berry as the one who flies into wild rages and has left him loads of vicious, bitter text and voice messages that document her anger issues:

‘I honestly think Gabriel should release some of these messages he has from Halle, and tell his side of the story, but he won’t, he said he’s going to save them for family court, which will be a private, press-free environment,’ the source told the website.

‘I know it sounds like I’m painting a picture but Gabriel truly does not want to do anything at all that could potentially damage his daughter, and he knows attacking Halle in the press would ultimately do that.’

Unfortunately for little Nahla, this public and legal match appears far from over.

Lindsay Lohan New Legal Troubles: Accused Of Grand Theft

Lindsay Lohan finds herself on the wrong side of legal woes once again.

The actress is accused of stealing a $2500 one-of-a-kind necklace from a jewelry store in Venice, California. The owner of the business filed a criminal complaint against the actress last week claiming there is surveillance video of Lindsay on January 22nd, wearing the item in the store just before it goes missing. Lohan is also pictured wearing the necklace in paparazzi photos on the net (see that photo here.)

With the online photos of Lohan wearing the alleged item, the police were able to obtain a search warrant to for her home. TMZ is reporting that Lohan got wind of the impending police presence and the necklace was returned to the LAPD last night by a stylist.

Sources close to the actress say Lohan maintains the theft is untrue. She claims the necklace was loaned to her and that her stylist forgot to return it on time. After Lohan wore it, she gave it back to the stylist who did not return it in a timely manner.

Returning the property does not absolve Lindsay from possible prosecution and the DA is expected to make a formal decision whether to charge the Mean Girls actress (and stylist, perhaps?) by Thursday or Friday this week.

This is bad news for the one time actress who is still on parole and barely out of rehab for a month.

On Kim’s absence from this appearance….
Ellen: First, Kim is not there. We should mention that. Kim’s not here. Is she okay?
Kyle: I think she doesn’t really like to be around this crowd that much. I think she’s a little gun shy right now.
Ellen: So she won’t be back next season. That’s safe to assume?
Kyle: I don’t know. I don’t know yet

Britney Spears’ New Album Title: Femme Fatale

Britney Spears has finally released the title of her upcoming album: Femme Fatale. She also included the cover art! How nice of her!

The “Hold It Against Me” singer said on twitter:

“This album is for you, my fans, who have always supported me and have stuck by me every step of the way! I love you all!”
“I’ve poured my heart and soul into this album over the last 2 years. I’ve put everything I have into it,”

While the singer did not give an exact release date, she did send a message: MARCH.

What do you think of the new cover art?

Vanity Fair 17th Annual Hollywood Issue 2011 PHOTO

Vanity Fair’s Annual Hollywood Issue cover is upon us. The March 2011 cover shot by Norman Jean Roy, features some of the hottest names in movies right now. The mag proclaims: “Vanity Fair went back to the basics—no teenagers, no penguins, no (full-on) nudity, just the most exciting actors and actresses of the moment.”

But once again, it’s a pretty white bread deal. The four actors on the front cover are (left to right) Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway and James Franco.

The rest of ‘Hot Hollywood’ featured after the fold out are (left to right following Franco,) Jennifer Lawrence, Anthony Mackie, Olivia Wilde, Jesse Eisenberg, Mila Kunis, Robert Duvall, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Andrew Garfield, Rashida Jones, Garrett Hedlund and Noomi Rapace (see the larger/full photo under.)

This is mainstream Hollywood at it’s finest, which I guess is exactly what you buy VF for. The only two actors of color (Mackie and Jones) do not make the front and the only older actor (over 35) Duvall is hidden in the back like they were ashamed to include him.

Vanity Fair has come under fire for it’s white, white and more white focus in the past years, but what do you think? Is it the magazine’s fault or Hollywood in general for only casting white?

This issue goes on sale in New York and Los Angeles February 3rd and then nationally on February 8th.
